I have been doing a bit of blog reading... but little commenting....
having a wonderful time with my rellies... Hubz has taken them off to the big smoke to watch live cricket and I am taking advantage of a few hours of quietness and finished off my February SAL tote bag
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Can you see the broken needle?
I hardly ever break needles
this one went straight through my finger
no pain really... nice quick in and out
I nearly fainted from the thought of it though
I was quilting the back of this pretty little bag
I'm a bit cross with myself as I didn't do the satin stitching of the hearts on the trees and the flowers
I just got too excited to make the bag
... did the hatch quilting on the back - there's no blood on it!!!....
I was surprised how lovely and big it is 16" x 12"
.... will hold lots of fabric ....
True Friends Tote Bag
made as part of the Stitch-a-long
from Red Home book by Natalie Bird
I love it....
Righto, Gotto Go...
Yikes! That sounds truly painful! I would have fainted, for sure! But the tote is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI feel your pain! Your bag looks great well worth the pain I'm sure.
ReplyDeleteOuch! I do love your new Bag :) hugs
ReplyDeleteHow long since your last tetanus shot? This needle accident may require another needle...
ReplyDeleteI did the same thing, while sewing binding on a customer's quilt...was worried more about getting blood on the quilt (I didn't, thankfully!) than I was about my finger. Hubby sent me right off to the doc to get a tetanus shot. Seemed like double punishment to me!
Your tote bag is lovely! So much pretty going on there that the needle mishap is almost worth it!
You must definitely keep this one for yourself!
Fiona the bag is gorgeous, well done my friend♥
ReplyDeleteOh the thought of a needle going through my finger, ouch - wouldn't want blood on those gorgeous fabrics!
The no-satin-stitch looks fine, but I know what you mean about just wanting to get the bag made x
So pretty and how nice that no blood got on the bag! I hope the shock doesn't hit you later on. What a big OUCH!
ReplyDeleteOh OW! You're lucky ... if you really didn't feel any pain ;) I've done that before I few times, and it truly hurt each and every time!! ... The bag is gorgeous!! I love the fabrics you've used in it! They look amazing all together like that!! ... Hoping your next foray into sewing will be a little safer ;) !! x
ReplyDeleteVery nice bag....it made me feel a bit faint thinking of your pain.
You have been quiet lately so thought maybe you were taking the time out with your relies. Love your bag, the quilting on it looks good. That's a bit rough to sew your finger. Ouch. Hope it is ok now.
ReplyDeleteLovely bag - if you want to do the satin stitch maybe you should make another one, there's still half a month to go?
Beautiful work as always.
Ooh nasty sewing injury but very cute bag.
ReplyDeleteOuch! Your bag is lovely, great fabrics...do you think it needs a retail therapy test drive to see just how much fabric it will hold? just a suggestion *LOL*....
ReplyDeleteOh I hate broken needles, haven't had one go into me though thank goodness, hope you finger feels okay. Gorgeous version of the tote, just adore the fabrics you have chosen :)
ReplyDeletePoor you! The bag looks great!
ReplyDeleteOuch on the needle but your bag is gorgeous , wonderful finish ! Hugs Sheila
ReplyDeleteOMG & no blood on the fabric either. I hope that has healed up nicely. Us quilters do live life on the dangerous side with all our tools. People just don't understand we do extreme crafting. If I hear a noise outside I often go out armed with a roller cutter. Love your fabric choices for the bag, gives it a lovely fresh, modern look. Tracee xx
ReplyDeletesoft and pretty........
