I have been doing a bit of blog reading... but little commenting....
having a wonderful time with my rellies... Hubz has taken them off to the big smoke to watch live cricket and I am taking advantage of a few hours of quietness and finished off my February SAL tote bag

Can you see the broken needle?
I hardly ever break needles
this one went straight through my finger
no pain really... nice quick in and out
I nearly fainted from the thought of it though
I was quilting the back of this pretty little bag
I'm a bit cross with myself as I didn't do the satin stitching of the hearts on the trees and the flowers
I just got too excited to make the bag
... did the hatch quilting on the back - there's no blood on it!!!....
I was surprised how lovely and big it is 16" x 12"
.... will hold lots of fabric ....

oh nooo Fiona i hope your finger heals quickly,i have done that myself many years ago and it hurts like hell.

How long since your last tetanus shot? This needle accident may require another needle...
I did the same thing, while sewing binding on a customer's quilt...was worried more about getting blood on the quilt (I didn't, thankfully!) than I was about my finger. Hubby sent me right off to the doc to get a tetanus shot. Seemed like double punishment to me!
Your tote bag is lovely! So much pretty going on there that the needle mishap is almost worth it!
You must definitely keep this one for yourself!

Oh the thought of a needle going through my finger, ouch - wouldn't want blood on those gorgeous fabrics!
The no-satin-stitch looks fine, but I know what you mean about just wanting to get the bag made x

Oh OW! You're lucky ... if you really didn't feel any pain ;) I've done that before I few times, and it truly hurt each and every time!! ... The bag is gorgeous!! Oh your poor finger. How is it now? Needles and rotary cutters are nightmares sometimes. Your bag still turned out beautifully.

Oh goodness, my skin prickled when reading how the needle went thru your finger. Thankfully I've not done that to myself yet. Hope your owie feels better soon.

Just the thought of your poor finger gives me the shivers! Glad you didn't get any blood on your sewing. Your bag looks gorgeous Fiona. My book has arrived but I'm not supposed to have it until Mother's Day (so hubby says). I'll give it a couple of week and he'll have forgotten about it! LOL!

OUCH @ the needle through the finger - I break needles frequently (2 or 3 a week, at least, lol) but haven't stitched through my finger yet. Fingers crossed!

Oh I hate broken needles, haven't had one go into me though thank goodness, hope you finger feels okay. Gorgeous version of the tote, just adore the fabrics you have chosen :)

OMG & no blood on the fabric either. I hope that has healed up nicely. Us quilters do live life on the dangerous side with all our tools. People just don't understand we do extreme crafting. If I hear a noise outside I often go out armed with a roller cutter. Love your fabric choices for the bag, gives it a lovely fresh, modern look. Tracee xx
