It's Treasure Tuesday time.....

Firstly I must explain.... I LOVE being a Mum.... and I EXTRA LOVE being a Nana (in fact I sometimes think if I could've gone straight to the Nana bit I would have)......

but I have to admit...

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE....

..... having the house to me and Hubz..... (of course visits are welcome... even long stay visits......)

Because...... this means I can have a room for ME.........

this is my spot where I spend a lot of my time...... it gets a nice spot of sunshine in the mornings during winter.... perfect.......

A while ago Madame Samm over at Sew We Quilt offered us a individualised picture of our 'studio' so I had to get one and finished this up over the weekend........

Is that not the cutest little sewing machine?

Thanks Samm - now everyone knows which room it is in my house.............

You may have noticed no sewing machine on my sewing table...... well Precious has taken up temporary residence on the dining table with it's special cover .... I'm quilting quite a large quilt.... and needed the extra space......

somehow I have overflowed into the lounge area too..... (well I need something to do at night in front of the TV!!)

and because I CAN... without worry that MY THINGS are not LOST in the garden .... or used to CUT CARDBOARD.... or touched with STICKY FINGERS.....

(though I have to keep an eye on Hubz .... he likes my scissors!)

So you can see why my own space is a Treasure... now I am going over to Melody's place to see other people's unselfish treasures.......

Thanks Melody..... it's always fun having coffee time with you...

  1. Love the header picure. At the moment my sewing room is so messy I have to fight my way in there. I think it is nice to have a presence All through the house.

  4. I love your post and that little wall hanging is so beautiful. I too spread out like treacle all over the house...luckily my husband could eat standing up if he had to. My sewing space looks nothing like it did when I posted about it a few weeks ago...Arghh!
It is wonderful though to have a place to call your own no matter how big or small.

  9. oh yes oh yes oh yes! a space to call my own instead of the dining room table, coffee table, floor and beds! *grin*. Love your wall hanging, it's gorgeous! toni xxx

  10. Great post. My stuff is from the front door to the back door and I like it that way!
About the scissors. The secret is to buy a floral pair. I can tell you that no 'REAL' man will ever, ever, ever use a floral pair of scissors even if he is alone in a pitch black room with no other way of opening his brand new power tool or dvd player. This is when teeth and belt buckles come into play.

  11. Fiona, I am really REALLY looking forward to when the boys move out and start their own families - and I have the whole house to myself, lol - is that selfish???? I'll welcome them home now and then but I'll wave cheerfully as they go.

Having a space of your own is AWESOME and a true treasure!

  16. Love how your Madame Samm pattern stitched up. She made one for me too, I must put it on my To Do list. When my first son moved out my second son grabbed his bedroom, so he now has two rooms and I still don't have a sewing room. Yours looks great. Have a wonderful week.

  20. I have a sewing room and sometimes it is a calm and peaceful ordered place to work and sometimes it is chaotic with things everywhere. But I enjoy getting the order back into it and keep telling myself that it is only disorganised because I have so many unfinished projects - so if I spent more time sewing, I'd be more organised. So far, this has only been met with raised eyebrows.

  21. That little wall hanging is so cute Fiona. My sewing room has been absolutely shambolic but I have just finished a couple of projects and can see the floor again. Isn't it amazing how threads and scissors move around the house!!

  24. Isn't it wonderful to have a little bit of space that's just 'yours' :o). What a fabulous sign on your door, LOVE it :o)!!!! My 'cave' is quite tiny, but I love that it's my bit of space to do what I like with :o). I think we all like somewhere to escape to every now and then ;o).
    Hugs,
    Joy :o)

  25. You mean the whole house is not your room? My husband always jokes that the only room in our house has door that go up and down (the garage). And what is it with husbands and our scissors? The first and last time that my husband used my good fabric scissors was about 10 years ago when I caught him using them to open a Fed Ex box. Funny, no?

  26. I guess you'll have to forgive the scissors cuz of that great table!!
I have a room finally too--at least for now; but we have to move alot. I'm enjoying while I can!

  29. I think that's a fabulous treasure, Fiona! You have a wonderful space, that's for sure. And that little quilted block on the door is just perfect! And I do wish that I had been able to have children, but as I have grown older I have to say that I do appreciate having my "spaces" all to myself - Jeff even had to rent an art studio so he'd have his own space! LOL! But I'm sure I would have welcomed those special visits from little ones, too!

    XOXO,

  30. Luckily I have a space that I can work in, though I would love to spread out. Slightly envious of your freedom to invade your own home!

  32. Why is it that mom's tools are always the most attractive?

Isn't it nice to be able to spread out once in a while and not need to put everything away before supper?
