This week I have been madly pushing some things to get to the end .....
The next section of Gossip in the Garden is done.... sewing along with Michelle for this one
I appliqued a bunch more pies onto backgrounds.... all the ones I have are done now but I still need to count them up to see how I can put them together.....
I have a couple more tarts to sew up then I will start planning how they go.
Michelle wrote a nice bit about Toondah Harbour which is in threat of development - a place which should be protected as the threatened bird species Eastern Curlew breeds there. Read more HERE
Postcards are being made to send to State and Federal environment ministers - I only sent one each but made others for practice....
I chose one to the artist /bird lover who has set it all in motion and is planning an exhibition at some stage.....
I found a 'draw a curlew' tutorial on-line and used raw edge applique and thread drawing on my machine.... it was such fun. Please feel free to join in.
My second quilt from shirts has all the blocks ready - trying to keep the same fabrics away from each other is an impossible task - I will live with my final layout - hoping to get them together this weekend.
So us two old penguins have stuck it out for 44 years now....
The outside of the building had this lovely facade all done...
I thought this a great quote by Monet...
They had a bridge over the water lilies all set up so we could go and get our pictures done - even had an allocated person to take photographs.
Congratulations! Great way to celebrate, stunning exhibition. Gossip is looking lovely and your curlews are brilliant. It would be such a shame to lose such a lovely place. xx
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, you two lovebirds! What an interesting exhibition. Let's hope those curlews have their desired effect, yours are splendid.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations and a lovely way to celebrate your anniversary..
ReplyDeleteYou’re doing well working on all your projects….
Love your special birds.
Hi Fiona. Your Gossip in the Garden quilt is going to be amazing. I love all of the blocks but especially the ones you've embroidered. The shirtings quilt looks like it will be so comfy. Happy Anniversary. Thank you for sharing the Monet exhibition. Your celebration looks like it was a lot of fun. Enjoy the weekend.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on still being lovebirds after 44 years! I hope we get that far too. I love the long-stem flower in the coffee cup in Gossip in the Garden. It is coming along so lovely! I hope your curlews get to keep their home. Poor birdies. We call them Sandpipers. I love your renditions of them. Monet in Paris is a great place to visit judging by your pictures. Love the cafe photo and the one with both of you. Cheers! ;^)
ReplyDeleteYour Gossip is progressing really well. I hope the postcards work so the birds keep their home. Us humans do some silly things! Great outing to the Monet exhibition.
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary - love the penguins.
ReplyDeleteThe Monet exhibition looks wonderful.
Politicians, developers etc - are all greedy - let's hope this is halted.
Happy Anniversary! Looks like you had a wonderful time at the exhibition. Good luck with stopping development. We keep losing here on the Mornington Peninsula. Greed and power seems to win at the expense of people and wildlife. Love your GITG progress and your pies and tarts.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the anniversary. Great to celebrate. I managed to see the Monet exhibit here in Melbourne earlier this year and thoroughly enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteGreat to see the progress on Gossip in the Garden.
And the bird postcards are delightful. Lovely work.
Love seeing all the pies and tarts.
The shirt quilt looks wonderful, too.
You have been busy.
What a delightful way to enjoy your anniversary. The installation looks incredible. Your little curlew postcards are super cute. I hope they have the desired effect. Your other projects are progressing nicely too.
ReplyDeleteYour action to preserve the Curlew is very good and yes, important. Well done.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the wedding anniversary... what a beautiful day... thanks for the wonderful photos.
Your "gossip in the garden" will be great. I look forward to it. I wish you lots of fun.
