This quilting on this quilt was done before we went on holiday..... so once I was feeling well enough (post jetlag) to use a power tool I sewed the binding on....
On Tuesday sewing with my regular group I sewed down the binding.... and here is the end result...
I used Terra Australis range (again) and mixed it with black and whites - machine appliqued the circles then joined the blocks together...
The backing is more circles - and you can see the quilting better... I used a curved ruler throughout...
I am happy with how this one worked out... it is a healthy sized lap quilt...
Another quilt using Terra Australis is on the quilting machine now.... this time I will go with an organic wavy line throughout to contradict those squared off edges...
Once I had finished the binding I did a little needleturn applique and sewed a few pies onto backgrounds.... my long term EPP project but I'm glad it includes applique too.
Good to be back sewing, catching up with friends etc....
Hope you are all keeping well....xx
Lovely quilt, very eye catching. The one being quilted is lovely too.
ReplyDeleteGood to see you back in action - that circle background is perfect - looking forward to seeing the second one too.

Hi Fiona love your quilt ,it’s stunning, good to have you back my friend 🤍💕🤍
ReplyDeleteNice finish Fiona - the circles look great on the b/w background. xx
ReplyDeleteThat's a fun quilt, Fiona! Your second Terra Australia is also interesting. After our last OS trip a few years ago it took us longer to get over jet lag than it had done before.....perhaps because we were older?
ReplyDeleteWhat a striking finish. The background fabric really makes the circles "pop".
ReplyDeleteIt looks wonderful Fiona & I love how you have quilted it too ... perfect!!
ReplyDeleteGreat job with the circles! Love the back as well. Your EPP is coming along nicely. Enjoy! ;^)
ReplyDeleteLovely finish to your circles quilt. The circles are quite stunning against the background.
ReplyDeleteLovely also to see another ready on the machine.
You are definitely over jetlag when you can get this done.
That quily is awesome! Love how you used black and white fabrics in it as well. The backing is perfect. Your EPP is looking good.
ReplyDeleteThe colours in that fabric range are gorgeous! And it's a very cool quilt. The second one looks fun too - it's interesting to see the fabrics with two different types of backgrounds.
ReplyDeleteSo many pretty projects. Thanks for sharing photos.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful quilt. I absolutely love the colourful circles over the monochromatic background. Welcome back home too. Hopefully you're over the worst of the jetlag.
ReplyDeleteFiona, you did some amazing work! I really like all the colorful circles on the B&W backgrounds. And there you go working on another circle quilt (pies). Catch you later this month!
ReplyDeleteYour circle quilt is just gorgeous! I love the colors you've used and the quilting on it is perfect! xx
