Hubz is retiring the end of this month... so that's exciting.....
Retirement and pension is a whole new ball game for us.... don't really know where to start or what is out there ... oh well.... he is old enough for a pension but I am not ...
Happy for tips if you have them - those who have 'been there done that' or have family who have. Thanks.
Anyway.... back to the real fun of life... the sewing....
I had one finish last month to go towards WOOFA (thanks Chez) and OPAM (thanks Kris)... I still love it
I got a lovely surprise in the mail from Lin in France.....
I have always admired her amazing crazy patch work... This is what happens when you mix craft with art - I love it.
There is so much detail in this little mini cushion (it's not a pincushion - I would never stab it). Thank you so much Lin and I just love the teal and green together....
I finally finished off this small quilt.... I love the bright 30's fabrics and these were left over HST's from a bigger quilt I made some time ago.....
I have got a bit obsessed with the blackwork. This is the new one I have started. I am doing a 'formal garden' but I haven't done all the borders yet... I was in a hurry to add some plants to see what it will look like. I am using single thread of these two variegated thread....
This is a very generous free pattern through a facebook site which some friends put me on to... each section will have different flowers...
I will put it away ... I have another block of Civil War Bride I want to get finished...
oh wow retirement........what will you do with him around all day.......lol.......there will be some adjustments and changes but I am sure you will settle into a new pattern........goodluck to D.....
ReplyDeleteyou have been busy......
Oh HaPPy ReTiRemenT to hubby...
ReplyDeleteLoVe love LOVE the WOOFA finish... it's amazing...congrats...
EnJoY FNwF tonight too...xox
maybe you can head south for a holiday on a farm........just an idea......once the borders settle down again......
ReplyDeleteRetirement. That's a scary word in my book. It shivers my timbers. I'll probably be 77 by the time I am ready to retire, lol.
ReplyDeleteSo love your PP quilt. Can't stop looking at it. Lin can do magic with threads. Every single piece she does is amazing and this is no exception. I so love the colour combo and the big spider in the corner for good luck. It's a tiny garden of beauty. Your new embroidery project sounds like fun. Enjoy! ;^)
Retirement - twice as much hubby and half as much money! lol I can recommend it, for sure, even though you don't have near as much 'empty' time as you would imagine. Well done on the quilting and blackwork.....and what a beautiful cushion, no indeed, I wouldn't be sticking pins in it either. I have seen pretty pin cushions piled in a clear glass bowl for a decorative feature.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pieces Fiona xx
ReplyDeleteHappy Retirement to Hubz ... a new adventure for you both :)
Enjoy this new chapter in your lives. I agree - you cannot stick pins in that gorgeous creation.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy retirement. Mick retired at the start of last year, but he failed and is back working. Mainly because tradies are thin on the ground and he is helping out some mates. He figures he may as well until I finish work in a year’s time. He is looking forward to retiring a second time around. Our main aim is not to be under each other’s feet all the time. I just love your FPP piece. It is mesmerising.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful surprise!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on hubby's retirement, a whole new chapter for you both
Happy Retirement to hubby… lots of adventures you can have together.
ReplyDeleteSuch a gorgeous gift form Lin…
Lin's gift is just beautiful Fiona - so much detail in that tiny cushion - every time I look at it I see something new. So special. xx
ReplyDeleteMy husband doesn't want to retire, since we would lose medical for me, I need a few more years to get my own. Love all the beautiful work and that baby quilt is so sweet. I do have fabrics and hope to do some charity quilts with it, since I have no young ones to gift to.
ReplyDeleteDebbie
I do love that mini quilt. Stunning work.
ReplyDeleteAnd the mini cushion is gorgeous. Lovely detail.
Well done getting the small quilt completed ad looking great as well. You have been busy.
Good luck with the retirement plans. Not sure what to tell you or what you need to know.
Your WOOFA piece is fantastic! Everything else is beautiful, too.
ReplyDeleteThe wee cushion from Lin is amazing, and so is your WOOFA finish.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing your Wish You Well quilt completed.
Happy retirement to Hubz. Lovely finishes for the month and your new blackwork project is looking great. Glad you like the colour combo on the pincushion - all hand dyed. xx
