Projects....

Another block for "From The Heart" is done....

This is where I am up to now.... there are 3 more blocks then some pieced blocks and a border which has applique on.... so still a fair bit to do....

I have pulled out this quilt to try and get it quilted.....  I did Wish You Well last year ....

There wasn't enough of the backing fabric I wanted to use so this morning I pieced up left over scraps from the front and made a panel to add to the backing....

Hand sewing has meant a couple more 'sweets' for the blackwork....

... and I might have ordered more Aida to do another one!!!!

This little baby quilt made it to the top of the quilting queue this week and is pinned ready to sew....

A friend showed me her plans for a quilt... the block is called Road to Tennessee and can be arranged to different designs... I have seen them as noughts and crosses too...

Anyway I have had this pretty William Morris layer cake which I have chopped into charm squares and the edge pieces will be in that light gold... it is almost exact to the gold bits in the fabric so I was chuffed to find it...

I have bought into an online quilting course for some inspiration and confidence in different designs.... I bought the wedge ruler that goes with the course as it makes cutting much easier and I think I will use it for scrappy quilts.

Anyway you make up a quilt with wedges and work on that so I chose a medium grey and a dark grey but silly me underestimated the fabric I need so I have to wait and get some more before I can make it!!!!  Grrrrr

So some chopping, some sewing, some growling, and this afternoon there will be some mowing done as the day has turned out beautiful after a couple of damp (all damp is most welcome)

Righto, Gotto Go... off to rev up the mower......

June FNSI

Thanks Wendy for having us for FNSI ..... always fun....

I did some chain piecing on Friday afternoon..... I had 'scrap' HST's that I had made into pinwheels a week or so ago....

Purchased some shocking pink .....

In the evening I did some needle-turn applique on this next block for Civil War Bride... there will be a bird in those branches....

Over the weekend I put all the blocks together......

It's very pink..... not sure I really like it... but someone will....

There was one block left.... so it will become a mug rug one day.....

I have made the binding in the same pink and made some light blue to become a peeper under the binding... will add that once the quilting is done....

Meanwhile ... it has gone into that ever growing quilting queue..... but I am please one more bundle of coordinating scraps has been used up....

My lemon tree has given me 2 lemons this year but a friend gave me a bunch the other day....

I baked a lemon drizzle cake this weekend.... yummo (if you like citrus flavour).  A very easy chuck it all in recipe and then sugar and lemon poured over the top while it's hot

There are loads of recipes on the internet.... of course I can't find the one I used but they all look similar!

Righto, Gotto Go...... it's a new week and there are things to be done!!  First I'm off HERE to see what others got up to...

Have a lovely week whatever you are doing.... stay safe, stay smiling and stay sewing (or whatever)....

All those projects....

I seem to have gathered up a rather lot of projects next to my chair....

The hand sewing for the binding of this one has been done......

It's hard to show the navy quilting on the navy fabric but this shows it a bit....

I'm really pleased with the effect this one gives.... now for Hubz to make up the hanger for it and we can find a place for it to live ....

Some hand embroidery has been done with 2 more for Field Journal...

And Tuesday sewing with friends saw some more sets of 3 put together....  slow going

Another block for Civil War Bride is started.....

... and also for From The Heart....

there is the Blackwork and I have done a few outlines....

... and my neglected crochet... I need to concentrate on counting for this one... some should get done tonight during a footy game....

... and this sock.... hmmmmm needs a bit of sorting out where I am ...

I really need to do a bit of a tidy up....

I was sewing with another group yesterday and amongst them sisters.... one of who works on a project at a time and finishes it before starting another... the other sister a bit like me with several on the go and eventually a finish ....

I love the variety but I get fed up with the mess ....

Righto, Gotto Go.... pinning a quilt today and my coffee break is over!

Have a lovely weekend....

At the Station....

We stayed at a large cattle station in the Valley.... and took a tour with the man who started it all.... in his 80's now and full of information and amusing stories....

This is a view from their lovely little rustic (for 2 people) hut.... can you imagine the sunsets from here...

sky couldn't get any more blue, the stars at night were spectacular too

One of the look out sites is called Munroe's lookout..... I asked why and he said... there is a peak that side and another that side!!! I had to laugh!!

One of the trees he pointed out was this bat wing tree, which is apparently rain forest but there are a couple growing there.... you can see why it is called batwing ....

beautiful Queensland bottle tree's throughout the station...

Lots of beautiful cattle.... but I didn't take pictures.....  I was enchanted with how much he loved them and was so respectful when they were on the road... just waited quietly till they moved... so many people hoot and move and bang on doors....

We also took a hike at the station ..... Leichhardt was one of the early explorers... and got lost somewhere along his exploring....  but this was one of the areas he passed through....

very steep walk up rough rocky pathways.....

Piano rock.......

I tried to get an idea of how steep and rocky the pathway was.....

.. finally coming to an overhanging rock where people had popped in many years ago ...

It was pretty special to see these as they would not be viewed by a lot of people

Back down to the valley and this is one set of mountains on one side with the lovely bumpy effect

We did come across quite a few roos at the station....

... and emu's....

It was quite a long drive (over 6 hours) to the station... so I did get a fair bit of crochet done there and back... and a very little bit in the evenings

I am making this blanket with left over yarn from others I have made.... as long as there is enough for 1 or 2 rows it goes in....

with the smaller pieces that won't fit I have started a large colourful granny square....

That's the end of the trip pictures......  sorry if it went on a bit but this is my journal in a way... and I do love to show off the beauty of the places we can visit...

Righto, Gotto Go... we got a surprise storm yesterday so the washing wasn't done.... I still have a couple of loads to catch up!!!

Take care and have a lovely rest of the week....
