We watched the lunar eclipse last night... well we popped out every now and then to see where it was and looked at the online observatory pictures which were clearer...
I have finished the needleturn on the 4th block for From The Heart....
At quilt group I started sewing my half hexagons into groups of 3..... a light at the top, medium to the right and dark to the left.... (some reverse sewing was required)
These sets of 3 are not joined but it gives an idea of how they come together.... long long way to go...
I was gifted some lovely fabrics this week.... 8" or more strips so there is plenty to make a good sized quilt from it..... I think it's quite an old range but beautiful quality fabrics and they are worth stroking!
I have already started chopping....
Our Agave plant has a flower spike..... they are very impressive!
This spike is about 2.5m long
The flowers are opening on the bottom section where you can see it's a bit fuzzy in the above picture...
Hundreds of beautifully formed flowers...
One of the aloes has lovely fat buds... they make me think of pangolins....
This image is off the computer... The Ground Pangolin is an endangered species in Zimbabwe and strongly protected.... sadly it continues to be trafficked for the 'medicinal' properties in the scales....
Anyway you can see why the aloe reminds me of this intriguing mammal....
Righto, Gotto Go... still pressing and chopping those lovely new to me fabrics....

The half hexagon quilt will be lovely. One thing I've learned when working with hexagon, it's always a long-term project, lol. That's a very long spike. Mighty strong plant to hold that up and yet the flowers look so delicate. Enjoy the new fabrics. ;^)
Well done with your EPP......did you know that your design is called "inner city"? That's an interesting fabric range you have been given; love your applique too. Love those flowers, Mother Nature certainly has some fascinating things!

Your half hexie quilt is going to be another beauty. That eclipse was great, but it was super cold here last night so I went out a few times but gave up by the time it was completely eclipsed. Brrrrrr

We just popped out a couple of times to see the moon. It was too cold to stay out for long. Your half hexies are going to look so effective. Knowing you, you will get stuck into them. I can see the resemblance in the flower bud.
It was overcast here so missed the eclipse but there were many amazing pics on Tele.
Your 3D blocks are coming on nicely.

Lovely fabrics to be and petted. Pretty needleturned block. I also popped in and out to see the blood moon....far too chilly to stay out and watch the whole thing. Love the flower spike....very impressive.
I popped in and out too, hoped to get the moon coming up over the water but was too late getting there. Your applique is lovely, hexies stunning and your plants are amazing, those flower spikes are really unusual. Have fun with your new fabrics.
We also enjoyed watching the eclipse but agree it was too cold to stay out all the time.

Those half hexagons look amazing Fiona - like 3D amazing. I have not seen an agave in flower - that is quite incredible & the flowers are stunning. Those gifted fabrics look so yummy too!
wasn't the eclipse cool........ive seen agave flowers before and they are so pretty......
the aloe flowers I must not have seen before but yes they look like pangolin.....weird medicine ideas sure have a lot to answer for........
oh and I love the look of the 1/2 hexies..........

That project looks like a tumbling blocks pattern with a twist. Never seen it before. Some very interesting info about that little critter. It is good to share such things in blogland.
