A sewing weekend ... during the week...

Mostly the 'weekends' are busy so I like to have my weekend sewing days with friends during the week..... since I quilt at home I can do that ....

This week I went to Quilt Club on Tuesday where I continued sewing my half hexagons....  They had a lovely morning tea

They also had a 'destash' day where members can take stuff excess to their needs and set up a table and sell it off.... there is always lots of bargains and I might have helped to alleviate some peoples guilt about having such a big stash...... it's only charitable to do that......

My half hexagon pile is growing.... I am wanting an equal distribution of light, medium and dark so once I have some more I will need to start some proper planning and perhaps add some other fabrics.

Wednesday I had a few friends over at my house and I got on with some machine sewing which has been waiting around a while...

This small lap quilt was made up using blocks that were included in a recent op shop fabric purchase.  I had some pieces in my stash I could use for sashing and borders.

I rather like that look and so will have a dig for a jelly roll and make some of those blocks for a bigger quilt I think....

These pretty Australiana fabrics were purchased a while ago because I loved them..... I found a nice red with a black fleck in them in my stash for sashings and borders and made up this table runner.

Now to book it in for quilting!!

A bunch of 4 1/2" squares were already cut to sew up into a childrens quilt.....  I recently saw one Susan had made and liked the idea for some of the I Spy fabrics I have....

A bunch of 9 patches were sewn up..... it's so good to have company when doing repetitive work like this....

The I Spy fabrics are in the corners.... and every one has the bright blue centre

This morning I quickly gave them a press and slice.....

Now I have a bunch of blocks ready to sew next time ...

A successful sewing retreat weekend for me.....

Covid restrictions have eased in Queensland today and we are now allowed to have 100 people in our house ..... such a relief... I really missed that part....

Righto, Gotto Go... there is quilting to be done....

That morning tea looks amazing Fiona. Love your half hexies, good to hear you were able to help in the fabric redistribution, the lap quilt is lovely and the nine patch blocks will make a great I Spy quilt, the Aussie fabrics are pretty. Enjoy the visitors!!

morning tea looks good...and you have been busy again...can't wait to see your I Spy disappearing 9 patch.
And so glad you can have so many people over to your house (I don't think I know enough that I would invite over unless they were quilters!)

Great news! 100 people - who is in charge of catering? Lots of nice work on your 'weekend'. xx

love your lap quilt and runner, so pretty.
Love a good I spy quilt.
So have you made your top 100 list of people to invite to your house?
These covid rules are so silly sometimes!

Oh! I can't wait to see what those lovely half-hexagons will become! Lovely table runner. Love the fabrics you picked. So nice that you can have friends over. We are still under locked-down. Since we were the last to get Covid, I guess we'll be the last to get rid of it. 🙄 Sigh! Enjoy! ;^)

I know you were really missing having 100 of your friends over for lunch. All the cooking, cleaning, making small talk...actually, if it were 100 quilters, that would be fun! Except for the cleaning part :)

Hello~~~Yes! It is so grand to be able to resume some of the "normal" dailies with (quilty) friends. Like you, the weekends are busy with (usually) family so the week days are my stitching times/gathering times. Sigh......I so love those tea-time moments! Just perfect for catching up, dear-friend talk......and, just maybe, some stitching!
Springtime is upon us and the flowers are blooming----at home. DH & I are still in our winter Texas place and an early summer heat (95F+) has been visiting us for these past days. My stitching has been completed down here......hopefully, I'll get my act together to do a blog post!!! Hugs, dear distant friend........

I look forward to see what you do with your half hexies...
Your op shop fabric pick up turned into a nice flimsy.
Sweet table runner.
The 9Patch blocks sliced will be interesting to see come together ...

Lots of good use of sewing time again. Love the idea of a destash at your gathering.
And, yes, I have really missed having 100 people over to my house, too!!

That was a very "charitable" thing to do for others!!! You always have lots of lovely things to share with us.

I am very behind reading your blog - and there is so much I should/could comment on - and I read from the latest down and noted a reference to not having 100 people at your house . . .now I've read this post - I laughed out loud.

your blog is always so full of busyness - but also almost always good for a laugh...certainly this time.
