It's always lovely to sew virtually with people from all over... there is also a facebook page and it's fun to pop in and chat with others for a while.... (not too much or no sewing gets done!!!)
I finished off Friday's little stitchery from Crab Apple Hill.....
.. and then I sewed the bee which finished off this needleturn block.... This is a quilt called From The Heart and a BOM I bought from The Quilters Angel. Block 1 of 9 done .....
that pretty much took up Friday night...
My Thursday sewing was reasonably successful.... lovely having a couple of friends come over....
Machine's were buzzing, chins were wagging....
I put together all the blue and yellow blocks .... so now it is a quilt top and I have extra yellow for the binding..... I'm still not sure I like it....
These are the other little blocks done during the week..... even though they are small they still seem to take me quite a bit of time. I am keeping up with one a day ... trying hard to avoid yet another UFO....
Very excited this week to pick up my next instalment of Field Journal.....
and little left over 4 patches have been made into a little quilt top.... pinned and ready for quilting now....
It is left overs from the wallhanging I have up in my sewing room....
I did also sew some of the Schoolgirl Sampler blocks together on Thursday.... adding sashing as I went along....
so as you can see I am halfway with the blocks... however there are lots of HST's to do still as well as the blocks so not halfway for the quilt....
Hubz got a new delivery of coffee beans this week - as you can see we have chosen some from the Congo
Here is the before and after roasting of the beans... you can see they expand a fair bit...
we have a little electric grinder and roasted beans are ground every few days so they are nice and fresh
.. kept stored in an airtight bottle....
These drip machines were popular in the 80's (I think)... and are back again in the shops... it is our choice of coffee machine and Hubz makes a lovely pot when he wakes up... so all I need to do is pour myself a cup.... I am happy to admit to being a coffee snob.
May seem a lot of trouble to get a good cup of coffee..... luckily it is Hubz' job not mine (he says I make rubbish coffee) so I have resigned myself to having my coffee made for me....
Roasting of the beans is done in a Popcorn maker.... so no fancy equipment needed...
Righto, Gotto Go..... time for a cup of coffee!!!

if you can't have a good coffee, better to have no coffee at all.... we are a bit fussy with our coffee too.

Your little blocks are lovely - are they ATC size? Love the bee block and your new Field Journal block looks to be very pretty too. Glad you had a nice day sewing with friends. I can almost smell that delicious coffee! xx
The new BOM is lovely and you are making great progress with your School Girl Sampler...
The blue and yellow flimsy is different from your usual ones maybe that’s why you are not sure if you like it.

Don't know why but I'm suddenly looking at my cup of coffee with disdain. I can imagine the lovely smell that must come out of those freshly roasted beans. Enjoy a cup for me, please. :^) I love your blue crumb quilt. It has a city look with the buildings on different blocks and the yellow is the street. (Yes, I know. My imagination is too vivid. lol.) Those tiny little stitcheries are adorable. I love the buttonhole with the hollyhocks flowers. What will the mini 4-Patch quilt become? A doll quilt? Now Schoolgirl Sampler is amazing. I might I've drooled on it a little bit. It is so calm and sweet. Love your colour choices.

Best not to learn how to make the coffee...enjoy being served. Always a variety of lovely happenings in your sewing space. Pretty stitching blocks.
The applique block is so pretty Fiona, love your little stitching blocks, School girl looks amazing, you are going so well! The mini is cute and I like your crumb quilt top, it is different from what you usually do so maybe that is why you are in two minds about it. You are not a coffee snob, just know what you like and why not if you are drinking it!!

Another coffee addict here....OK, we don't roast ours, and we have found a brand we really like already all done, but have gone back to a filter coffee machine, after trying out all other methods, and it keeps it at the just right temperature. Being little more modern than our old ones, it can be pre-set to come on, to be ready when we want it. Although I don't actually use this function, as I am a control freak, I tell the machine when to start, LOL!

All your projects are going well. You are so good to keep up with them all. It certainly is nice to have good coffee at home. Mick is our main barista too.
So many beautiful projects again. Hope you enjoy your coffee. I only have plungers but we don't drink much coffee. I am not supposed to drink it but I do enjoy a mug 2 or 3 x a week of organic fair trade coffee( I won't buy it if it is not fair trade).

Thanks for explaining how you roast the coffee, I was just about to ask. A good cup of coffee is worth the effort I think.
Thanks for the tips on making the coffee. Who knew you could roast the beans in a popcorn maker??!!! I love your blue crumb blocks with yellow sashing. Sweet bee block too!
Great projects! But the coffee beans are really what have me excited. You roast them in a popcorn maker?
