This years ornaments were finished in November but of course I couldn't show them....
I made about 20 ... sadly the ones I posted overseas didn't arrive in time even though I posted them early... hopefully they will give some new year cheer though......
As you see I went for the Merry Grinchmas theme......
Over the last couple of days I have been sewing down the binding and hanging pockets on the African Silhouttes quilt
(it is for Hubz and he likes a rod in the bottom to hold it down as well as one in the top to hold it up.... so I obliged even though my eyes rolled to the back of my head!)
Black on black binding is not the most fun... but it is done now and hanging up in his office
I have continued plodding along with my Naive Melody blocks and these are what have been done...
I have 20 more to do then they can all be sewn together....
We survived a lovely day, had lots of lovely food, Debs and Xav came round and spoilt us very much and we had lots and lots of long chats to our locked down families in UK ... and played Risk, the board game gift this year. It only took 10 hours for me to conquer the world......
I do enjoy this time in between Christmas and New Year... I always feel like I should be doing nothing at all .... and I enjoy endulging that feeling!... and of course eating left overs....
Righto, Gotto Go.... I do hope you had Happy Christmasses and Happy New Year to you all .... I'll catch up with you next year!
I love Hubz' hanging - well done, Fiona! Sounds like your Christmas time was similar to ours.....eating, drinking, lazing around.....
ReplyDeleteI love that wall hanging, it's beautiful
ReplyDeleteThe African Silhouettes wallhanging is stunning. Black on black is not the easiest thing to do. I'm happy I did a black quilt when I was much younger. Naive Melody is interesting. Love your choice of colours.
ReplyDeleteI too feel like I should be doing nothing between the 25 and the 31. Alas, I have to go back to work from the 29 'til the 31st. But the lunches are all made. Yay! (Don't like making lunches). Have a great week resting and sewing (because I know you will) or embroidery or whatever. Enjoy yourself! ;^)
The African wallhanging is just gorgeous. We also spent the day with family via the screen. Enjoy your leftovers - we will get to enjoy ours one day.
ReplyDeleteThe African wall hanging is beautiful, well done on the finish. You are going really well with your blocks. Good you had some family with you, hopefully you can visit the others next year.
ReplyDeleteA bit the same here - but the gap between Christmas and New Year is sewing time for me!
ReplyDeletethough I am setting aside New Years Eve day..to read.
we have screen time with the Townsville gang - a lot of food - still got leftovers.
Good to hear Hubz was quick to hang that quilt after all the eye strain to finish it...as you know I think it looks great . . .and needs a companion!

You just cannot help but love Grinchy! So much fun....love mine! Mr. R's quilt looks fabulous and it must be so nice to ponder in his office. Glad you have had a nice relaxing time and best wishes to your UK family xx
ReplyDeleteThere is not a lot we can do about the post. Everything is changing so quickly it is still hard to keep up. I am sure they will still be appreciated.
ReplyDeleteA wonderful finish on your African quilt. It looks stunning. Definitely worth sticking with all that black stitching.
Love your Grinchmas theme. They look great together in the photo.
Your African Quilt looks stunning Fiona. I am sure your hubby will be very happy with it - two quilt rods & all (wink). I saw some of your wee grinchy ornaments on some blogs & thought how beautiful they are. Have a great New Year Fiona xx
ReplyDeleteOh, that African quilt is gorgeous! Love the Grinch orni. You have made so many beautiful things.
ReplyDeleteSuch lovely work you do! I had problems with shipping during the holidays, as well. Paid extra for Priority shipping and it arrived late too! May you and your family enjoy a wonderful and Blessed New Year.
