I got back to Field Journal this week with this sweet gum nuts and leaves.... the nuts are done with two strands and the leaves in one..... and the colour is Sweet Gum in Cottage Garden Threads
For my next round of my Love quilt there is a bit of EPP to do.... so I pulled out this project bag I bought at a quilt show some time ago.... (yes the sheep are upside down)
Inside are ziplock bags sewn into the centre seam.... very clever idea
so I have put the different sets into separate bags....
... and it's all ready for pick up and sew.....
I pulled out my owl mat this week as someone asked about it..... its from a few years ago when I did a challenge withing a quilt group. WE had been give a small piece of fabric (The multicolour one that looks like drops) which we had to use 80% of what we were given and add to it...
I did mine with raw edge applique and rather a lot of free motion quilting....
... and this is what it was all about..... if you look back at the picture the first owl has his eyes closed, the second one has no ears and the third one has its' beak tied....
This Monday a few of Thursday morning girls got together (things have had to change!) and one had made each of us these gorgeous little owl pincushions.....
Today in between quilt jobs I have my Gail Pan BOM fabrics out to cut background squares and circle for applique - it's a good get up and stretch activity....
Righto, Gotto Go... a retreat instruction has been sent for us to take some fabrics for a surprise project... so I better go and dig some out..... after my coffee that is!

that project bag is brilliant! It'll be interesting to see what the mystery project will be :)
Very nice embroidery and that project bag does look like a a brilliant idea. The owls are very clever and lots of your lovely quilting. The owl pincushion is so cute. xx

Your owl mat is gorgeous. I love the eyes on the third one.
Love the gum leaves......and what a clever project bag!
so much to comment on that you have accomplished that I don't know where to start! All lovely work....the owls are very wise in their advice, aren't they? My Dad had a favorite saying when someone didn't understand what he was explaining to them......he would say, "they were looking at me like a tree full of owls"....lol.......lovely work all!
I love everything you are working on Fiona (as usual!) ... but I think those zip lock bags sewn in the centre are just such a wonderful idea!!
Your gum leaf stitchery is beautiful, and the project bag a great idea, I have made two of them for epp, they are perfect for a grab and go project. Love the owls and the saying that goes with them. The owl pincushion is gorgeous too. 🦉 looking forward to seeing your surprise project.
Gorgeous stitchery using the perfect thread....
Very handy bag for the EPP project.
The Owl mat looks great with your quilting.....

They are wonderfully quilted. How big is the finished piece?
Love your bag with the separate sections. Fantastic work on the owls.
Love the gumleaf. Good organisation going on there with the EPP shapes. Cute owl pincushion, what a lovely surprise giftee.
Your owls look great, Fiona.
I've made a lot of those bags (with plastic bags inside). Around here, we call them Busy Body Bag. Love those. Love your owls and the newest pincushion too. Too cute. Enjoy! ;^)
.LOVE those owls and it was wonderful to see them in real life back then! Also love their message. What a very nice owly surprise too. Your stitchery is very pretty. Great idea for your EPP....I suspect your secretly becoming a convert lol! Xxx
Looks like you are getting organised for the retreat. The field journal gum nuts are gorgeous. Love the way the owls look, too.
Hi Fiona wow what wonderful projects you are working on and your work is so perfect, well done my friend, hope you have a wonderful weekend xx
Love your owls! I am quite a fan of owls and my grandson loves finding them around my house. I love your gum nuts and the CGT colour is perfect. Love CGT. Lots of projects on the go. I look forward to seeing those appliqued circles.
I’m just catching up on some blog reading and you have been busy. The banner stitchery and the gum leaves are so beautifully worked. I wish I could do such even satin stitch. Being so organised should help with all the EPP for the next border. The pouch is a great idea. I also like your alternative for the Dresden blades. I hope you had a great time at retreat and put a dent in your projects pile.
When your post first appeared on my screen, the first ziplock picture looked like it was filled with pepperoni. 😆
Love your owls. The little owl pincushion is so cute. Your folder is a great idea. I'd need about 1/2 dozen of those thou for all my EPP projects. :) Hugs,xx
