This year is flying by.....
Temperatures dropped and we lit our first 2020 fire... I love the log fire.....
My eldest grandson made this for me as a toddler... I used it virtually every day....
He turned 17 this week!!! how did that happen???? He was born in the first year we moved to Australia so that's how long we have been 'stralians...
Our Malaysian orchid flowered for the first time.... most of the bunches fizzled up but we have one lot.... it's very dainty and pretty....
I have been led astray from my projects by some other bloggers..... hmmmm
Lou has been sewing this one.... I love that there is a combination of applique, embroidery, piecing and embellishing....
This is from Gail Pan's I Stitch club, I came late to the party so I have several months to catch up on.... I am going to do the stitcheries first then have a few days of cutting and sewing the blocks together to catch up.....
January's stitcheries ....
February's stitcheries
....
Once I am up to date I don't think it will be too hard keeping up....
Lou has also been making these lovely batik blocks....
so in my bid to work on reducing me scraps I have pulled out the batik bucket and started cutting strips.... I think I need some other colours (there are quite big pieces but few colours .... an email to my favourite quilt shop should sort that problem out)
Cheryll hosted FNWF this week and I carried on working on March's blocks for Wish you Well
there are lovely sayings as well as pictures
However, Cheryll has also been tempting me with this gorgeous bag she made.... so I ordered the pattern and have been 'shopping' for some fabric. The Quilters Angel stock Tim Holst fabrics and they are stunning - I'm so pleased to have found a project I need to use some of it!
My plan for the weekend is to make a start... I am still waiting for the bag zip to arrive in the post
"but wait, there's more"....
Susan has been working on getting here One Block quilt together.... it looks fabulous
so this will be my WOOFA challenge this month....
I have 240 blocks so it won't be a very big quilt
Righto, Gotto Go..... I am off to study that bag pattern.... and start placing the blocks on the design board
Have a lovely weekend, we have a long weekend here in Queensland ... Hubz needs to chop more firewood and I have some cyber social engagements....
Wonderful post Fiona, the new stitcheries are lovely, interesting how bloggers can lead us astray 😁😁. Looking forward to seeing your One Blocks come together, that is exciting. Looking forward to seeing your bag progress, love the Tim Holst fabrics. Off to checkout the batik blocks.
ReplyDeleteMy goodness You are a busy bee
ReplyDeleteso much loveliness there
Stay warm Stay well
Your fire looks so warm and inviting. We have only heat pumps here, lovely and warm but not the same.
ReplyDeleteGo on, I'll take some of the blame for two of your projects. I am really enjoying Gail's I stitch, this is the first year I have joined in.
You have so many other projects ticking along. How do you do it?

ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing your bag made up. It looks like you have lots of gorgeous projects to keep you company for quite a while.
ReplyDeleteCan't imagine lighting a fire here, still over 30 even though it's cool in the evenings and early morning..
ReplyDeleteSew good to have the spoon your GS painted long ago..
Oh you are sew easily lead Fiona but there are many projects you've decided to do...
Have fun...
as if there wasn't enough temptation - friends have to lend a hand!!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous memory in the spoon.
There's always another project to tempt us, isn't there......we have had a fire for the past couple of nights, and very cosy it is too!
ReplyDeleteNow I want to go sew up some scraps, too! Reading blogs is dangerous...you could catch a new project :)
ReplyDeleteI always seem to love everything you are working on Fiona. There are so many lovely & tempting projects out there in cyberspace at the moment - its easy to get distracted. We had our first fire two nights ago also - I do love the fires in the winter. Today is raining but not cool - I might light it just for the ambience. xx
ReplyDeleteWow! So many beautiful projects. I love Gail's designs . Your fire looks so inviting. Kerp warm. I am rather cold even with the heating on.
ReplyDeleteIt was a little chilly....one day we were cooler than you....unheard of lol! Love your stitchery project...it's going to be beautiful! Those new projects are very sneaky the way they capture you lol! The orchids is so delicate and pretty xx
ReplyDeleteAs always, lots of lovlies. I am always a sucker for a nice bag which reminds me that I have frames for a couple of retreat bags somewhere! Enjoy. xx
ReplyDeleteThere must be something in the water down under because I swear you gals get 100 projects done to my one. I've been reading your April posts and honestly girl, everything you make is exquisite! I'd love to come sit by your fire and stitch with you. How incredibly peaceful.
ReplyDeleteYou've got lots going on. Yay for cooler weather and the opportunity for a fire. Hope you had some marshmallows in the pantry for toasting ;-)
ReplyDeleteIt took me a minute to remember that you have the opposite weather, than us, lol. We are warming up here but a lot more rain too. Lots of wonderful projects and I know I enjoy quilting more in the winter.
ReplyDeleteDebbie
I think your spoon rest is a real treasure.Very special.
ReplyDeleteI love the way you are saying that everyone is leading you astray with your sewing. Isn't that what happens all the time? Haha! And we all love it.
Good luck with all your projects and plans.
Haha so many lovely things out there in blogland (let alone looking anywhere else!) to tempt us! We are so close to lighting the fire but haven't just yet... I don't think it will be too far away considering I'm sitting here shivering this morning!!! How nice the spoon rest has survived the years - and nice that you use it daily too.
ReplyDeletePhew! I'm tired just reading about all you propose to work on. We have had the heater on for a while now and it will stay on for several months. No log burner for us any more, but we do at least have a flame we can see.
