Sewing away.....

We are all being affected by this virus one way or another - not good and very stressful and worrying.  Lots of loving thoughts.

I am still amazed at how many people are not taking things seriously.  My DIL family are all sick with the virus and isolated at their home (in UK) .  My daughter and her partner have been put of work.  Other daughter is in self isolation due to a spiked temperature and work cut back to 40%.  Hubz working from home.  Lots of changes and this is still early days.

Hold in there everyone... we will get through this but please take care … stay at home and get some of those projects done.

I have stitched some more snowmen for my Bunny Hill snowhearts ….

They don't take long to stitch once the prep work is done...

I am putting in some sparkly fabric in them all.... and the background fabric has a bit of bling too....

This is where I am up to so far.... when all 12 are stitched I will sew up and stuff the hearts

Another block of Field Journal has been done... I learnt a new stitch for the leaves... fishbone stitch... The flower petals were done with two lazy daisy stitches

The little stitchery I showed last post has been made up into a needleholder….

some pockets and a felt flap inside....  I hope it will be useful to the recipient...

Black and White with Green quilt is done.... I bet you are wondering how I came up with that name????

There was enough of the green to make the binding so that is done and now it is waiting in the Quilting Queue... though I will need to hunt down a backing...

I stitched down the binding of these 3 little quilts this week... they are less than a metre so don't take too long to do... nor are they too warm on my lap...

the little bear ones are panels... and I have more of them so there will be more little quilts like that..

Righto, Gotto Go..... time for some cooking.... pork wrapped in proscuito with pumpkin mash.... we are eating low carb and having fun with different recipes...

Keep safe, keep stitching and keep smiling....

  6. Sending prayers to your children and their families. That is so scary. I stopped my son yesterday from going to work. Why should he risk being infected because his boss doesn't supply gloves nor masks and ask him to wash his hand all the time. My son has to cook pizza! Customers are still walking in the store. It's not an essential business, especially when there's 7 others pizzerias in the region. Too bad for his business, but Mr. Boss should supply his employees with better protection than that. Anywho! Hope all goes well for your family. I can tell you are in the fall season. No one around here wants to see snowmen, haha! Love your stitchery. Those orange daisies are so beautiful. Excellent job on the leaves too. Just love it! Love your Black and White with Green (Bacon and Peas?) quilt! It is so different than what you usually do but I like it. Take care of yourself and Hubz. ;^)

  7. It is one of the hardest things, we cannot be with family, and I do miss the boys. My husband is working and today they cut down to two shifts and a break in between shifts, but he is around less people and they are being very stringent with keeping things clean. I still got another cold and it had to be from him, but just a regular one again, normal flu season here, as well. Lots of beautiful projects and it is nice that we can create while we wait it out.

  8. These are such uncertain times and I hope your family all recover very quickly. Sorry to hear that your hubby has also lost work. I'm hoping people listen and do distance themselves to stop this spread, so that life can return to some normalcy.

You've certainly been busy with your sewing and I do love that green shining through in your curvy quilt.

Your dinner sounds delicious and lower carb is the absolute opposite of what we've been eating this week. Insert a big sigh here. This as I sit her smelling the rice pudding I made earlier and waiting for my sourdough starter to be ready to use to bake bread.

Getting lots of your snowmen done and lovely stitchery block, Great to learn a new stitch.
The last stitched block has made a sweet needlecase I'm sure will be loved by the recipient.
Cute wee quilts and a perfect name for the B/W with Green quilt Hahaha!
Bet your low carb dinner was delicious.....

  11. I do hope your family all come out of this in good health. People seem to be starting to stay home more, which is a good thing. My work (a legal firm) is still open for now, though with reduced client contact. I love your little snow men. I have the patterns put aside, but haven't got around to them. The blue background suits them perfectly. Knowing you, I'm sure they will be completed in no time.

  13. My thoughts and best wishes go out to your family in the UK. It is so difficult being far away. It really hits hard when it is family involved. Are they managing okay?
Your hearts are looking wonderful and I am adoring all the field journal embroideries you show. It really is becoming tempting!! Stop it!
    Gorgeous little quilts, too.

  14. So sorry to hear about your family Fiona, one of the toughest things about this is that you can't go to be near them when you most want to. Hopefully, they'll pick up very soon. There is a lot of uncertainty and fear of what's going to happen with all this. Sending love to you all

  16. I do love your BWG, really nice. And lots more lovely things too, snowmen as well! I do hope that your UK family will be OK. I could not believe how the British were behaving last weekend when they had be told to stay home or social distance and as for all those heading to the coast in their caravans.... Sometimes I feel ashamed to be British. Big hugs Fiona - you have lots of family worries. xx

  17. Do hope your entire family recovers and that the govt financial support is enough to sustain them through this awful crisis.

  19. Plenty happening here Fiona but firstly, best wishes to your UK family that has been affected. I hope they all recover quickly. Tough for all those out of work. Out of our 6 kids/spouses only one currently has work :-(
I adore your snowmen - using some sparkly fabric was a great idea - they're going to look fabulous all sewn up in their hearts. And beautiful FJ stitchery. And I love the little needle case - great idea to use the lace. BWG quilt is great - love those curvey bits on it!
