Friday Night....

A lovely double date with Friday Nighters at The Quilters Angel and FNWF hosted by Cheryll with cyber friends....

I didn't take sewing... I took gluing!!  I don't do a lot of EPP and usually I baste but I think there are 144 of these to make and so desperation got me gluing.... I think I got half done.... so another session is required....

A few chores in town this morning and then...….

Yup... a sewing machine is not the only power-tool I know how to use.....

I can only reach half the hedge... so the front is done... it looks like it got a mohawk....

and I only cut through one power cord and tripped all the power in the house...…lucky Hubz is very patient with me and found another extension cord ..... and rolled his eyes almost to the back of his head!!

I feel I have made an honest annual contribution to the garden.

This is the second of United Stitches that I managed to finish this week.....

One more to go!!!

Our white Jacaranda is flowering beautifully... it usually flowers in October, and it did last year, a little.  The recent bit of rain has mixed up lots of trees I have noticed.

They are lovely delicate flowers, I love the blue Jacaranda, but I love this one too....

For my me-time sewing this coming week Bloom blocks are out....

Sitting here on a Saturday afternoon listening to the sounds of suburbia... lawn mowers, whipper snippers, leaf blowers.... so good to have had some rain.... hope it keeps coming

Righto, it's this time of day again..... I'm off to read what others got up to for FNWF......

have a lovely weekend...

  1. I started laughing so much my daughter asked me was I ok. So I read out to her about your gardening adventure so she could see why I was laughing. 😊😊. Anyhoo love your projects & the white Jacaranda is beautiful. I think if I'd been thread basting all the coffins for my quilt it would have been lap size not queen size. Hugs,xx

Oh No you need a cordless cutter like me......
Was wondering what happened to the BlooMs .... nice to see them out and also to have stitched another block in pretty thread....

  3. Love your garden adventures that would be something I would do. Hubby does not let me near anything that cuts. I cannot wait for spring and some flowers blooming. We have a bit of time yet here.

  4. That trimmer looks like it could serious damage in the wrong hands. Stunning white jacaranda flowers. Your bloom blocks are looking sooo pretty.

  6. Are you trying to tell us that at other times, you have cut more than one lead? :) Maybe sewing machines are safer to play with.

  7. Sounds like you should stick to power sewing machines, Fiona, and leave those power garden tools alone!

  8. Whoa you were brave using the hedge trimmer, they are usually heavy things, so easy to have an opps moment. What sort of glue do you use for your EPP, must save a lot of time instead of basting. Pretty stitcheries too. xcx

  9. When it comes to EPP, "whatever works best for you" is my motto. Lovely, lovely stitchery and the last picture is just perfect. What a lovely invitation to a break. Enjoy! ;^)

  12. Oohhh, you need a battery powered cutter Fiona, thank goodness you didn't hurt yourself! Your stitcheries are beautiful, I glue for epp too, much quicker, unless they are tiny hexies then they get sewn. Lovely to see the trees in flower.

  13. I'm sure your Hubz would have a mishap or two if he tried using your sewing machine. Especially FMQ! Much harder than trimming hedges. Enjoy your "me time" with those lovely blocks! :)

  14. Your stitcheries are beautiful. I tried gluing and I made more of a mess, lol.
Love seeing your gardens, we are barren for the winter, but at least I can see the birds better.

  15. LOL rolled his eyes to the back of his head. I can just imagine. I'd never seen a white jacaranda - it's really lovely. We have the blue/purple ones around here.
Enjoy your 'me' sewing and the rest of your weekend :)

  17. Well done with the hedge. I can overlook the power card!
Looks like you managed to get a lot of preparation done for your stitching. Still loving those US blocks.
How gorgeous is that white jacaranda. What a pretty tree.
