Wishing you all a wonderful 2020..... may it be full of stitching..... and other stuff that you like....
Yesterday I went and bought cold meats, cheeses and pickles for us to snack on at NYE.... we seldom sit up till midnight, preferring just to get to sleep when we feel ready..... boring ….
This week I quilted up this little quilt (the top was given to me) …...
… and this Chevron quilt top that I made a few years ago.... I did leaves in all the whites and lines in the colour… fairly heavy quilting but it gives a nice texture and is not too stiff.... will be even nicer after a wash....
My hand quilting is done, this is a smallish lap quilt size and I did make myself do a bit each day so it would get done.... some ovals in the blank squares to copy applique'd stitcheries
.. and some orange peels in the corners and wavy lines in the borders...
mostly very simple but it holds it all and gives a nice soft feel....
I now have a binding queue starting... the binding has been sewn on by machine and I will hand sew when it is cool enough to be prepared to have a quilt on my lap! (my postcards quilt is also there)
Today I am pinning work quilts in preparation for next year..... well one of them needed to be finished before I could pin it ------ YOU know who you are!!!.... haha.... just a bit of blanket stitching around stars.... I thought it was a bit funny that it got posted to me not quite done....
.. and another United Stitches block done..... you will still be seeing these around for a while...
I have updated my WOOFA list on the side bar to reflect my long UFO list. Cheryll is hosting a bit of motivation to work on unfinished projects, and maybe even finish them!! You can read about it HERE.
Thanks Chez..... great idea....
Righto, Gotto Go..... ALL THE VERY BEST FOR 2020 .....
Wishing you Happy New Year with lots of sewing time. Hubs and I are doing the same....an antipasto plate with some fruits and nuts thrown in and a bottle of bubbles to share.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilt and stitching. We stay home too, have a nice dinner and watch tv and go to bed, lol.
ReplyDeleteI had enough partying in my younger days. Happy New Year!
Debbie
Happy New Year lovely people x Beautiful work Fiona....well done on doing some of your own beauties. Lovely stitchery. Early NYE for me.....germy!
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy seeing a new post from you, with progress on various projects. I picture you, so many miles away, sewing away happily each week! I do New Year's Eve like you do, going to bed when I want. Maybe when you're happy with your life, the new year is less of a big deal? Or maybe we're getting older? No, that can't be it! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great name! You've been busy with the quilting, very satisfying to get them done.
ReplyDeleteLovely to work to work on some of your own projects Fiona...
ReplyDeleteBest wishes for 2020 and enjoy lots more stitching.
Happy New Year my friend ,wishing you a safe and happy 2020 xx
ReplyDeleteBest wishes for 2020, Fiona! We didn't make it to midnight either. You can bind a quilt on your lap if you put a fan underneath, your own personal air con......
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a wonderful New Year! You've gotten prepared with lots of ready to finish quilts! These quilts that combine applique and embroidery and piecing are so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWonderful quilting and stitching, I had a giggle at the binding pile, replacing the quilting pile 😀😀. Good idea to list things to get done, a deadline helps!! Very best wishes for 2020 to you you.
ReplyDeleteAll the best to you too, sweet Fiona and to your family. I love this new United Stitches block. So lovely! You got lots of quilts almost finished. You plan to have a great year of finishes I think. And with Woofa to help too. With the year I had, I don't think I am strong enough to follow with Woofa but I can cheer you on. You can count on me. ♥ ;^)
ReplyDeleteI hope your relaxed New Years Eve was very enjoyable. You ended the year with a bang, actually getting to quilt some of your own quilts. Good luck getting the bindings finished when the weather cools. I’ve joined WOOFA too. It should be a good motivator. We can do this. Happy NewYear
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year! As always, I love your work. I am especially attracted to how you quilted your chevron quilt! Looks amazing! XO
ReplyDeleteHappy 2020 Fiona! xx
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year. Hope you enjoyed your evening and slept well for a great start to 2020.
