Carnival is in....
Spring holiday around here is busy busy busy.... last weekends lovely stitching and this weekend is gardens...
Although there is still a horrible drought the flower festival brings in a lot of income for the city so water is pumped in ...
These poppies were outside the Information Centre... of course our local bees are very happy at this time of year
They also had these lovely beds of pansies....
Meantime my lovely stitching cushion has had to be retired.....
you can see why …. it's very tired and most of the stitching is no longer there!
This cushion was made in a round robin stitch-a-long that I did many years ago.... and made lifelong friends as a result
Note to the lovers of EPP - the hexagons have held up very well!
In my own garden the Dendrodiums (spelling) are looking wonderful... such a lovely show - well done to Hubz the gardener
Hubz had some business in Brisbane so I was able to hitch a ride and go and spend a few hours with Michelle... here we are in front of some of her wonderful art
Car journeys have meant some knitting has been done and a second penguin jumper is completed
… and whilst I was with Michelle, and of course many other evenings I have been working on getting more postcards stitched
I only have 4 more to stitch.... but of course lots of blocks to put together
My son and his youngest daughter are coming to visit in November.... little Miss 4 nearly 5 Grandiegirl has not been before and she (with help from her Mum) made up this lovely date caterpillar. She can tear off a circle every day to see how many more sleeps to go.
I'm a bit excited! It's almost 3 years since a cuddle.
Righto, Gotto Go... cuppa time. Hubz and I visited more places today so I need to sort some pictures.

Hi Fiona such lovely flowers how lovely to see a garden show and well done Dave on your pretty flowers.
How wonderful you got to play with Michelle, love the pic of you both.
Your postcards are coming along well and how lovely you have finished another penguin jumper, hope your week is a good one my friend,oh nearly forgot how awesome your sone and grand daughter are coming to see you both xx
It's funny to read "School's Out" when we are finally settled in the school's schedule and school buses for another year. Lovely flowers. I should be so smart as to keep mine in pots like that. Must be less work. A wonderful project for Miss Grandiegirl to do. The anticipation is a wonderful feeling in my book. ;^)
I like the caterpillar idea! Can you recycle the hexies from your cushion onto a new one, or are not in good enough condition? There much weeping, wailing and gnashing of teeth here about the big festival in January and the drought - some locals say it should be cancelled, but many people say don't. It brings a lot of money into the town (like your flower festival), and if it's cancelled for just one year we might as well kiss it goodbye forever.
What a fabulous idea to create a countdown caterpillar. Love those little penguin jumpers, just so cute. I'd hoped to get up the hill this year to see the gardens, quilt show ect but looks like it won't happen this year. Maybe next year. :). Hugs,xx
The Orange poppies are so beautiful! Looks like folks up there really worked extra hard to make a good showing. Lovely to spend time with you as always x I do love that caterpillar....so cute! Maybe Nana needs one too. Postcards look great xx
The flowers are all beautiful
Love the caterpillar idea and how exciting to be able to get cuddles
Three years is such a long time to wait
Great photo of you and Michelle
Such a great pic there with the bee on the flower, well snapped Fiona!
I'm sure there will be MANY cuddles when your GrandieGirl arrives, what a fun way for her to keep track of the sleeps until then.
x
Love the caterpillar!!
I love that it is school holidays - the traffic is so much better - but then the Queen St Mall is so much busier - can't win!!
you might need a countdown too!
The flowers look lovely and considering the drought situation that is a good effort. Glad you had a good day with Michelle and a bit of stitching.
How exciting to have family coming to visit. Bet you can't wait!!
Oh how exciting and what a lovely way to countdown. Maybe you should have one too
The flowers are beautiful, I had some beautiful poppies and forgot to water them, not sure if they will come back next year, so we shall see. A shame to retire that beautiful piece, I treasure the things that were giving to me, but sometimes we have to let go. Your granddaughter's visit sounds like a wonderful thing to look forward to and exciting that she can experience new things with you in your area.
Debbie
Gorgeous flower pictures. That cushion is just crying out to be recycled! Lovely to spend some time with Michelle and how lovely to look forward to a visit! We get to see Philips one and only at least two or three times a year but on my side getting to see my brothers grandchildren is a rarer event so it was lovely to see them both this summer. I am sure it will be wonderful. xx
Awesome that you were able to piggyback on a ride and spend the day with Michelle. I know you would have both enjoyed it. How exciting that you will have your GD and son come and visit...♥♥♥ Lovely flowers around the city - is there any rain forecast at all? Your cushion has been well used! Mine has been purely decorative so doesn't look its age - that was a fun project to do.
Love the "countdown" caterpillar. I can see lots of cuddles and fun times in November. Good progress on the postcards.
oooh how exciting! And love the caterpillar! Your poor stitching cushion... but it was well loved and used and that is the main thing! xx
I wish it was spring here, instead of fall! I never tire of summer. It goes by oh, so quickly! How nice you had an opportunity to go visit Michelle! You should have a Caterpillar, too!
