My fun stitchery (designed by Shez) is now set in its frame....
It is in the sewing room.... so when I get lost quilting I can see where I am and find my way back to reality!
ChooseDay sewing started off with a new project....
This is a kit I bought off a destashing site some years ago.... I loved the colours and the beautiful French General fabrics. It is called Les Courtiers.
some of the fussy cut scenes make up some blocks
… and pretty floral border fabric for others....
… and also birds, with flowers and vines.....
I think I am going to enjoy this one …. this is only the first part of 5....
You can see these blocks were reasonably simple, there are some more that need some needleturn so I going to work on those in the evenings....
Once they were done I started ANOTHER new project
Finally I am starting on some mini-quilts (I have been wanting to work on mini quilts and try and improve my accuracy in tiny piecing)
A quiltalong has been started working from this lovely little book by Sheryl Johnson from Temecula Quilt Company (which I purchased last year and this was a great motivation to use it) This week we made 3 shoo fly blocks (they will be 3" finished)
I was quite pleased with the accuracy. The fabric was starched very well, basically drenched in spray starch. Also I used finer thread top and bobbin and a smaller size needle and pinned carefully ...
I'm still on the look out for any tips for accurate mini piecing if you have...… please.....
… and finally the One Block Wednesday blocks for this week (my fabric is all cut now so just need to sit and sew these)
My One Christmas Item for this month is another mitten ornament
Here are the 3 I have done this year
Righto, Gotto Go.... time for a cuppa…..
I hope the rest of your week goes well....x

Hi Fiona i love the colour thread you have used for the wording,I am so glad you enjoyed making your beautiful framed piece.
Boy your blocks are so pretty, you always do such wonderful work, well done my friend xx
Les Courtiers quilt is lovely. It will make a very peaceful quilt from the look of it so far. Love your tiny little Shoo Fly blocks. Be careful with those; they are addictive! Ask me how I know! :^D
Well done on your Christmas item. I wouldn't be able to think of Christmas this time of year. All my energy are concentrated on Spring is coming! Enjoy! ;^)
Lovely projects. Your blocks for the mini sew along look great. Hugs,xx
Your new project is very pretty. Looking forward to seeing your minis too.
Love Shez' s words and they look lovely framed. Hope you got some of this lovely rain xx
My piecing is not very accurate, I'm afraid. So my tip for tiny piecing is to let someone else do it. Not too helpful for you, though :)
I love that birdy panel! So sweet.
Les Courtiers is going to be a beautiful quilt, great use of the fabric
Another good week and two new projects. Admittedly one is only little, but how do you do it?
Lots of variety in your sewing week.
Great stitching all round. Your new project looks very interesting. Good luck with that one.
Nice to have Shez's stitchery done and framed.
Les Courtiers is just your style, sew I can see why you'll enjoy making it.
Bet you are pleased OBW is coming to the end !!
Have that christmas ornie pattern... must find it and make some....
That quilt is going to be stunning. So lovely to have varied projects to pick and choose from when the feeling takes you. Not sure how you do hand stitching in the evenings as well, by that time I´m bushed xcx
You are working on some lovely projects.
So glad I came back to your blog & read this post... after my absence from blogland, I was wondering where Shez is or what has happened to her, and here you have linked to her blog! Brilliant, now I can go find her.
The French General fabrics are so pretty, no doubt you will have fun putting it all together.
As for those tiny blocks, the spraying is a good idea. With the sewing of small pieces, I like to press the seams open; it all just sits flatter & keeps a better shape, is what I find. Also, regardless of how you press your seams, let the piece/s cool a tiny bit after pressing, then sit a book or mag on top then allow it to cool completely before moving it... I find that helps too. I'm sure you'll find a way of achieving results you're happy with x
Love the look of the new quilt...... Fussy cutting the fabrics and framed looks great... . Goodluck with the tiny piecing ..
