Angel Story

Angel Story, a pattern by Anni Downs and made in Tilda fabrics is a completed top.....

This weekend I added the two borders......

Perhaps you would like to meet the angels.... I think there is a little (or maybe a lot) of each of them in each of us.....

Best friends Zoe and Prudence...….. it is so wonderful when we are lucky enough to have special friends in our lives.....

Charlotte the Shopper …. possibly the least like me of all...… I really don't like shopping... I go and get what I need and get out again….. big fail in the browsing side of it....  but I don't mind carrying parcels... especially if they contain fabric!

Sarah the Sewing Angel....

Angela the Animal Lover.....

Harriet the Homebody..... definitely like me.... my comfort place

Fran's Flying School...... maybe we can't literally fly... but I like to think we can learn to fly with our dreams....

Becky the Bookworm......

Dimity the Dreamer.....

Tillie the Tea Lady.....

Sophia the Social Butterfly......

Pot Plant Penelope....

Millicent the Magnificent Mum..…  not sure I made the grade but I did raise magnificent Mums and Dads.....

Libby the Librarian......

Hettie at the Hat Shop......

… and some hearts to tie them together.....

I do love the mixture of applique, embroidery and piecing …...

I managed to score some matching Tilda fabric at $5m so I have joined some together for the backing and made the binding from the same fabric as the outer border....

It's all ready and in the 'waiting to be quilted' pile.... (which is rather long!)

Such a lovely quilt to make... which angel are you most like??

Righto, Gotto Go... Monday morning means quilting to do.....

I hope you have a wonderful week - doing as much happy things as you can.....

a big sigh of contentment................

This is what my Design wall looked like on Tuesday morning.....

all my angel blocks were finished and their borders on …. now to fill in the gaps

… and this is how it looked by the end of a busy day sewing...…

I feel it is all rather busy and all over the place... had a chat with my friend Michelle with some photo sending (isn't modern technology wonderful) and she came up with an idea of doing a double border to bring it together...

I had to go shopping!!!

the blue was purchased and I had the orange (part of the same range I used in the quilt) already

… I am hoping to get to do the borders this weekend

I think all the blocks are tagged so if you want to see close up look at the angels scroll through these posts  HERE ….

I did a few more red based circles over the last week... they are a handy pick up and go item....

… and I finished off these few Dutch Treat blocks.....

In fact... that green one is the very last block in the book!!!!

Hooray... and this is what my pile of all 196 Dutch Treat blocks looks like

These blocks were started at the beginning of April 2016 so they have taken a while - though I haven't only done them (as you may have noticed)

.. oh and I did some fun quilting this week too!

Righto, Gotto Go..... because I have finished those blocks I guess I can start something new?

October FNSI

Thank you so much Wendy for hosting us for FNSI last night....  I have only recently started back sewing with other bloggers on these Friday nights...

So many people have stopped blogging so this will be a way to meet some other bloggers - I do like my morning read of other crafters all over the world....

This is my latest Dutch Treat Block which I finished this week...… as you can see it is a Windmill.... the blocks are in alphabetic order in the book so being on W means I'm close to the end.... 5 more to do....

For Friday night stitching I did a bit more work on my sweet Flowerville Project... as you can see I am using variegated threads …. the chain stitch is quite slow going but effective....

On my machine I have been playing a bit.... I was going to join my different size black strips together but now I have decided to use this flash of green and some curved piecing (which is new to me)….  It's a bit odd … but I will continue....

This morning we went and watched the first cricket game of the season.... and widget has come home with us for the night...

A lovely spot ….. and a beautiful day.... we have had a bit of rain and everything is lovely and fresh and green grass has come through....

Righto, Gotto Go.....  I need to supervise a young man and convince him to mow the front lawn!

and while he is doing that I can read what the other girls did for FNSI

Little Ripple....

My little ripple is finished now.... it was made with left overs from my big ripple blanket!

I had to buy one ball of wool which I used for the outside border …..

Here is the big brother... which now lives in Melbourne ….

I bought a kit when I was last in UK and Attic24 has this lovely tutorial to help me along (although the kit came with a pattern I did need assistance with what stitch is what)

I have another kit which came back with me.... so that will be another day!! haha

In the meantime a friend of mine found this wool at a local store.... she came across something similar in Canada.  It is quite coarse to the touch and makes up to a lovely washcloth with a little bit of harsh for scrubbing....

It's a perfect little 'keep me occupied in the car' project and this fluro orange one got made on a trip with Hubz yesterday.... (the washer is not getting lost in that colour!!!)

Whilst Hubz was in a meeting I did a bit of stitching... and got a couple more circles done..... this project has been neglected lately …..

Evening stitching has meant a couple more Dutch Treat blocks are done …. these ones are quite pretty ones....

That's two little crochet blankets I have done this year.... just need babies to own them... too small really for lap quilts.

Sometimes I think I'm silly making things for no purpose... just because I can and because I want to use up leftovers.  I'm like that with food too!!!!

Righto, Gotto Go..... have a lovely rest of the week....

The Weekend that was.....

I do love weekends.....

We went to a small country town about an hour away and had a really bad lunch at the pub.... haha, my chicken was so dry and overcooked but I lied and told them it was lovely....

Then a spent a few hours with a lovely lady called Lynne and she let me play on her long arm quilting machine and gave me so many ideas.... yes, I am looking at extending my quilting and getting one..... giving me sleepless nights I can tell you....  Such a lovely lady and so generous with her time and knowledge - so good to get that encouragement from someone in the same industry.  Nothing is definite yet.... but I am going to talk to a dealer! hmmmm

Other than that there is green coming though on my lawn - we have had some lovely rain - not heaps but enough to get some water in tanks and give the garden a good soak.....

Some more work was done on the shadehouse - Hubz put up these trellises for a couple of climbers that have already started climbing!

…. and we also put wire on some for other lighter climbers (not so easy to see but there is mesh around the posts)

I am enjoying watching new growth happening on our plants - with the warmer weather and now a bit of rain

Joy is doing a series this month about 'Organising' our crafty things.... she has been giving me some ideas and I thought I would also share how I organise some of my things...

I have sets of drawers in my quilting room (where I pin my quilts) and on one end nails have been hammered in and I hang my rulers from there.....  In between the sets of drawers is a big space and that is used for storing all sorts of boards and rolls....

My most favourite storage solution is this cutlery holder which has been painted (not by me - this was a gift)

I made dividers and now it stores my DMC threads.....  I have them in numerical order and by no means have an extensive collection but I do add to it when I need another colour for a project....

This is a really show off picture of my threads... these I use for quilting so I have built up a good selection of colours….. Hubz made me one of those boards with pegs to fit my drawer and they all sit in there - very easy and convenient to find the colour I need.

Joy has all sorts of other ideas and also reading the comments I am finding great ideas.

On the crafting front I have pulled out my crochet …. this is a ripple blanket.  I made a big one some time ago and there was a fair bit of yarn left over so I am making a mini one with the leftovers.  There is not a lot of it left to do - it will be good to have another thing done and out the way...

Righto, Gotto Go..... new week, lots happening, work to do, but first...… coffee....
