This is the other backing I have been making. It is with all the leftovers from my Anthology quilt - there was much more than I thought. I still need to add some of the light background to the borders to make it big enough ......
I have finally decided on the size for my Dutch Treat blocks.... I cut at 6" for sewing and now I am trimming back to 5 1/2" ..... this block needed mending as I trimmed too small!!! grrrrr...
Been making a nice pile of trimmings! still lots more to go but there is no hurry as I still have heaps of blocks to do.....
I have put together another block for Gardeners Journal... Taking time to smell the roses and a mower.... haven't used one of those style for ages but they used to work a treat and give a good workout....
My frangipani's are flowering in the garden... this is my favourite and is a bolder pink than is showing in the picture....
I also love this cream one with the yellow centre
Righto, Gotta Go - I'm learning to quilt roses this weekend!! a little bit of a challenge
I hope you all have a wonderful, safe and happy Easter weekend
Fiona you have been busy.

ReplyDeleteDoes all that’s trimming mean they will be sewn together soon?
ReplyDeleteGreat backing and new Gardner’s block.

Happy easter to you, hope you enjoy a long crafting weekendxcx
ReplyDeleteIf that is your idea of a backing, I am a serious underachiever! Great job on using up your leftovers. Your flowers are gorgeous! I'm hoping Spring gets here soon and we can see some flowers.
ReplyDeleteThat's for a BACK???? Wow girl it's gorgeous!! Been there done that on trimming too short, lol - it'll never show. Your GJ is darling. Love the flowers too, wish I could smell them!!
ReplyDeleteLove the backing. Wow! It will be a reversible quilt for sure. Sorry about the DT block. The frangipani flower is awesome. That wild pink against the dark green is just fantastic. Love how the petals of the cream/yellow ones twist together in the middle. Gorgeous! Enjoy! ;^)
ReplyDeleteYour backing is far too nice to hide on the back of a quilt but I suppose you will have two quilts in one 😁 Love your gardeners blocks . Hugs
ReplyDeletelove love love the quilt..........the frangipanis are amazing at your house and yes that colour does not do it justice.........
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter, love your backing will make a beautiful double sided quilt. Gorgeous frangipanis.
ReplyDeleteThe quilt backing is amazing Fiona...the gardners journal blocks are beautiful..I wish we could grow frangipani here, the flowers are just gorgeous. Happy Easter to you and your family.
ReplyDeleteLove your quilt backing. Sadly I've done that with blocks before, cut it back to far & then have to add a small piece on. Though one time it was the designers fault not mine that i did that. :( The Gardner's Journal blocks look fabulous. Oh that Frangipani, the colour is stunning. Love it. Hugs,xx
ReplyDeleteOo, those frangipanis are gorgeous! Do they have a sweet smell, too? Just lovely. I didn't realize all those geese are for a backing! That's very fancy schmancy and a great way to use the scraps in an interesting way :)
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful backing and a nice idea to have something just as beautiful on the back.
ReplyDeleteYour flowers are gorgeous, I am not great with plants, I grow them and some live, lol.
Debbie
