Widget came to stay - and we watched the footy finals together.....
His team lost!!!!!
He lost a bet with his mom so he asked me for $5 to pay his bet.... sure I said....
... you gotta work for it.....
.... he had guidance from the trusted manservant and we have the beginnings of a new hedge....
This gorgeous little kingfisher hit our window and was very dazed....
... some other pesky territorial birds were teasing it so we moved it to a safer spot till it felt better and flew away....
Today was an unexpected free day so I spent it sewing .... of course!
I built my village of little pink beach houses.....
.. then I started placing fabrics to see what they would look like with the stitcheries... then I thought I would sew a few together.... and we have the beginnings of a quilt.....
... I wanted to catch up on my scrappy baskets so I patched and prepared the last 3 colours..... I still have to make them up but the day is finishing and my trusted manservant needs me to be a trusted maidservant and have food for him when he gets in from work..... sigh....
We have had an inch of very very welcome rain..... it's drizzling again now and I hope there will be a bit more...
Another picture of this beauty... such a lovely colour....
Righto, Gotto Go....... time to forage for food....

I am happy the king fisher was ok, they are one of my favourite birds. Love the pink village and the beginnings of your quilt. Widget was very good working to pay off his bet!! Great prep for the baskets...ah well sometimes a maid servant has to do what she has to do!!
Your projects are looking good....... The sacred kingfisher has such great colours especially when the light hits the feathers...... Beautiful colours.....

Poor Widget, I can sympathise about his team losing. He did well to earn his $5 and he seems so gentle with the Kingfisher.
Well done Widget working for your $5 so you pay your bet to Mum.......
Sew happy you recused the little Kingdisher. He's just beautiful...
Pretty pink houses 🏡 and the stitcheries are growing nicely..
Won't take you long to make up your baskets..
What did you find for dinner?
Good on Widget honouring his bet the old fashioned way! And learning some valuable lessons I'm sure. I love your pink houses and your Dream is looking really good! (I"ve finally decided on the fabrics for mine!!!!!) What a shame manservants need feeding and tending to.....
That photo of Widget petting the kingfisher is precious! What a gentle and sweet kid he is :)
The little kingfisher is so beautiful! Looks like I have some houses to catch up on...
Oh I am so glad you were able to save the kingfisher. He is so beautiful!
Nice to spend the day with Widget and experience the love of nature together, such a beautiful bird.
Debbie
What a worker you have there, love all of your projects
Glad the kingfisher survived, and how special for Widget to be able to get so close
Get to it maidservant!!
We often have birds fly into our kitchen window - with a very loud thump...never anything as pretty as your kingfisher though.
How lovely to have the kingfisher so close up! Great work on the pink huts. xx
Beautiful kingfisher. Love the houses & Ruth's Quilt. Hugs, xx
So pleased you had rain. Did it cool down at all? Looks like a very busy weekend with your cute sidekick! Lots to do. And a sewing day as well. The house collection is looking good and the starts to the quilt top and the scrap bags are coming along nicely.
How lovely to have a helper in the garden! What a beautiful kingfisher.. so glad it survived the collision...Love how your stitchery quilt is looking! xx
