We passed by Stonehedge..... it was Summer Solstice and there was so many people waiting to go in.....
A great view from the road side though.....
Off to Southend .... more beach houses but I didnt get a price on these ones!!
It is just on the estuary of the River Thames.... and must have seen lots of action over it's time...
Some may remember the wonderful poppy display at the Tower of London a couple of years ago..... some of the poppies are touring around and while we were there they were at Southend
right at the end of the pier - you can see the poppies all the way up....
very clever feature...
It was called The Wave..... and is now dismantled from there and moved.
Lucky to have seen it....
Nice icecreams at the little cafe there too!!
Righto, Gotto Go.....
That looks amazing Fiona...poppies are very nostalgic I think. Makes me think of all the souls who went off to war from the UK. Stonehenge is an interesting place.

Great to see the poppies when you did. The full display would have been stunning.

ReplyDeleteDD and her Hubby are in an re enactment group and went and fought at Stonehenge for the anniversary October 2016.....
Amazing installation! Must have been very impressive. So no naked dancing for Summer solstice then?
ReplyDeleteTouring poppies.. who would have thought :) So you can't just wander around in between the stones....? xx
ReplyDeleteI love poppies! Rather liked that 'wave', too! How clever!
ReplyDeleteVery clever indeed!
ReplyDeleteOh, too bad you were at Stonehenge on such a busy day! I'm sure it was packed.
ReplyDeleteWow, that's a great display - love how they have the poppies leading to the wave...wonder where it will pop up next?!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe how good the weather was for you
ReplyDeleteI saw Stonehenge in my early 20s. We were driving from France to Devon and I happened to glance out the side window. There was Stonehenge! I was struck by how small it is. I always imagined it to be much bigger. Similar to The Statue of Liberty really, that's a lot smaller than you'd think.
ReplyDeleteI saw the poppies at Lincoln castle. I think they would have been more impressive had I not seen footage of the at the Tower of London as obviously only a small portion travelled.
