This bunch of strips has been hanging around for at least 5 years....
I'm thrilled these strips are all together now. Personally I don't find it beautiful, but it appeals to my need to use scraps ....
Whilst digging around to see if I had some appropriate backing (which I did) I found a selection of minky fabrics....
... the weather is cooling here.... so of course I joined them up....
My trusty overlocker got a dusting and use..... and all done in 20 minutes.... I overlocked the edges too
AAAAAAAWWWWWWW..... yes, my little dog hates the cold, the minky is so soft and snuggly, and very light weight....
She hates her picture being taken but she wasn't about to move! haha...
Another block of Gardeners Journal is done - this one of course is Watering the Garden....
Anybody else got this quilt waiting to be started, or maybe started and not finished? Already Michelle and Cheryl have discovered theirs and we are sewing together and encouraging.... wanna join?
Righto, Gotto Go..... I'm going to roll up that scrappy quilt with it's backing and put it in the bottom of the cupboard for one of those quiet days ....... (I'm not revealing how many are already there!)
Great use of the scraps in that quilt and great to have it ready for quilting. That is a beautiful minky blanket for your dog, ours does not like his photo taken either, I think cos the flash hurts his eyes. Beautiful stitchery Fiona, I don't have that pattern but I am way behind on the Wedding Sampler blocks so need to get back to them .

ReplyDeleteGreat idea to make dog blanket from those bits too big to throw out, but not enough to make a quilt from! I have a collection of those bits in a box somewhere. I do like your scrap quilt, because it has similar colours through it.

ReplyDeleteI like your scrappy top! It's a bit different than most of your other pieces, though, so it seems it isn't your favorite and into the bottomless drawer it goes :) Someday you'll find exactly the right recipient for it.

I have the book and absolutely love stitching but I'm trying to be good and not start anything new! Maybe I could trace all the panels and stitch them when I need a change from needleturn...

Well done with using up those scraps Fiona - your rail quilt top looks great - and if it's not your cup of tea it really will be perfect for someone! Your minky blanket looks like it has found the perfect home - a 20 minute 'quilt' - awesome! Gardner's Journal has been on my to-do list...but I'm not even going to go there just now!....
