Hello, hello...... I do love weekends.... they just always seem relaxed and fun ....
Ok.... so this week saw me tracing 26 little designs....
(these are from Michelles' bear alphabet series - they are very awfully sweet... Michelle has done a few in the series of alphabets.... you can see them HERE)
.. and cutting up 2 1/2" squares... and choosing threads.... and stitching ....
these are going to be the centres of my snowballs in the sew-along hosted by Terry
More details about this Sew-Along can be found HERE.... just incase you are tempted!!!
I am going to do this variation... and rather than scraps I have used a coordinating set of fat 1/8ths that I had....
This week also I had a surprise thank you gift from Christine.... very unexpected and very sweet....
when I opened the parcel there was a wonderful scent of lavender... Christine makes lovely bags from her own lavender... I have split them up and put them in strategic places... like fabric drawers, and undies drawers, .... just lovely. I am thrilled to have another of Marilyn's patterns... I made her sewing bag up last year and this is another useful and pretty compendium.... I love the pretty Mill Rose thread and cute craft keeper....
.... who is already bundled up in some variegated threadworx thread..... (I had a part skein left and need some 'favourite variegated thread' for "Let's Get Stitched" day in Brisbane next month.... I'm so excited to meet some lovely bloggers (including the designers and hosts) I have corresponded with for ages...
(it doesn't look very variegated.... it's very subtle but it is there!!)
Thanks Christine, for your lovely gift..... so thoughtful....
Today The Quilters Angel hosted a Tilda Tea Party... I got overexcited to be in a room full of crafty people and beautiful things that I didn't take many pics... there was lots of yummy food (I have witnesses to this) and sooooooo much yummy fabrics and things to make (same witnesses)
Here is one of the tables set with things to make out of the Tilda fabrics.... that's Kris's bag there in the front
... and here are some of the deliciously pretty fabrics .....
I was useless and totally overwhelmedith the bustle and fun and ended up only buying a couple of little things....
... at least the shop is nearby and I can go anytime I like......
Last night I finished the first alphabet stitchery...
A is for Angel....
Righto, Gotto Go..... B is for b... ????
B is also for beer and Hubz' latest brew needs taste testing (the things we do for love!!!)

ReplyDeleteI always love your photos! You have accomplished a lot over the weekend. I love the 'Homemade' tape. I am also cutting 2.5" squares for Terry's Snowball sew along. I'm using scraps, so I think I'll be cutting for the next few weeks before sitting down to actually sew anything together. Yours sounds beautiful already!
ReplyDeleteLovely ... no. GOOORRRgeous stitchery! Your stitches are so small and even, it's just gorgeous! And those little bears are so cute. It will make the Snowball Quilt so much more interesting. Lovely gift you got from Christine and I fell in love with your craft keeper. She looks so sweet all snuggled up in Lavender! I know you will have fun next month but just the same I will wish you "Lots of fun meeting everyone next month!!" P.S. Yes, B is for Beer put don't put that in the quilt, it would look funny!! :D
ReplyDeleteSuch lovely Tilda-ness! I'd like to live near that shop.
ReplyDeleteThose little stitcheries are adorable, and they're going to look fabulous in the center of your snowball blocks! :0)
ReplyDeleteB is for baby, or bear or bath. I'm guessing whoever is receiving that quilt wouldn't think it was funny if you put beer in B.... so it is good that you drank it instead. I hope it was good. :) The stitcheries are going to look great in the snowballs.
ReplyDeleteYour quilt will be gorgeous with the alphabet stitcheries. I love the idea of a Tilda Tea Party. Glad you liked your goodies, Fiona. It was so lovely of you to send me that wool and I really appreciate it. xx
ReplyDeleteI have been resisting the snowball and nine patch sew along, but my resolve is now crumbling!
ReplyDeleteYour quilt will be lovely. I'd hoped to get a start on mine over the weekend. The Tilda Tea Party sounds like lots of fun. Hugs,xx

I'll have to keep an eye on these Brisbane events - now my son lives there, it would be fun to time a visit so that I can meet bloggy friends as well!!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely perfect timing for you to show your little bear alphabet stitcheries, I followed your link to Michelle's blog a couple of weeks ago and spotted these and hopefully they are winging there merry way here now.
