FNWFaF.... Friday Night With Friends and Family.....

Thank you so much Cheryll for having us for FNWF

I achieved the numbers 5,6 and 7 on my stitchery

my daughter and young widget came for the night so I didn't do much stitching

Boys Story got it's first use.....

Isn't this just the reason we make quilts?

today we had a day out to watch him at the footy end of season carnival

here he is off on a run with the ball

a bit of a road trip so I got this wash cloth finished (I can knit in the car)

My daughter went home with this quilt under her arm.....
My Favourite Things made in a Stitch Along

... such a pleasure that she fell in love with one of the quilts and wants it on her bed ....
(this is the back of the quilt)

As she left I said "Now, be nice to my quilt.....!" Hubz had such a laugh at me.... he says I think of the quilts I make as children!!! haha....

On Friday I stopped off at the roadside to take a picture of what I thought was a fun skyscape

A nearby plover started swearing at me and I noticed a couple of little chicks going into the grasss

mum and dad plover got very aggresive.... this was an accidental picture as I raced back to the car being wildly swooped by the plovers....

they were on guard when I passed that way later in the afternoon on the way home... and they swore at me again but I didn't try and leave the car this time

Righto, Gotto Go... I'm off over HERE to see what others got up to .....

Ahhh!!! How cute is that, Widget asleep under the Boy's Story quilt.Oh and he looks like a fast runner too.
Gives you a lovely feeling when your quilt is loved by someone special. I think the quilts we make are our kids?? They all have a bit of us in each..
LOL very protective Plovers..Good idea to stay in the car..

Lovely quilts. It is nice when they are used. Our plovers are noisy but not aggressive. They started with 4 babies but only two made it through the first month.

i am sure your daughter will take goo care of the quilt........the sky had been very changy of late......I have been snapping some too.......plovers are very nasty if you are to close to the nest or babies..........

Quite a few species of birdies can be aggressive if they think you are a threat to their babies! Good to see Boy's Story being used......and another quilt going off to a new home.

Aren't plovers funny....best not to cross them. How wonderful to have your quilts loved and used, it is definitely why we make them. They both obviously know a good quilt when they see one!

Fiona I love that your quilts are your 'babies'... love the Widget pic & your daughter is very wise to fall in love with your SKOW, it's amazing... I am only a week away from giving away my first gift quilt, & I must admit I will miss it - but as it will be at Mum's, I'm sure I will see it when I go there!
Maybe Mumma Plover wants a quilt for her babies?!

What a lovely "giving" time - Best that quilts get loved and used...else they kind of just "sit" don't they?

Soo cute! I am sure that goodnight sleep under Nana's quilt helped with the footy! I cannot believe the back of that quilt....beautiful front and back! Plovers are very good parents but I do wish they would pick a tree for their nest.

How lovely that your quilts are being loved - absolutely the reason we make them isn't it? The back of your (daughter's) SKOW is amazing!! And such a cute wash cloth - great use of travel time :-) Sounds like those Plovers sure know how to look after their babies!

If the plovers dont get you the magpies will...it must be spring!

Those plovers are quite fierce.
That's quite a bit of stitching you got done with such a cute distraction around.
As always, your quilts are beautiful.

He looks so cute sleeping under the quilt. Love the SKOW quilt. I'm sure she'll look after it. Those plovers are terrible. I was swooped one time by them when crossing a school oval. Didn't even know they were there until one flew right over my head. The groundsman saw it & had to move the nest so the school kids didn't get attacked. Hugs,xx

How sweet little widget is enjoying the quilt and that your daughter loved the quilt enough to take home , I love it too and the back is as pretty as the front . Hugs Sheila

I'm one of those lucky people who can knit in the car as well. It's very handy to use that time constructively hey? lol Love the pics of the plovers! Beautiful quilts you've made too.
Cheers, Anita.

good to see that your boys story quilt works as it was intended lol
It's such a good feeling when someone loves and wants your quilts. Your daughter is one lucky girl to get such a gorgeous quilt.
sounds like the plover attack was somthing out of Hitchcock's 'birds!
Who makes a nest on the ground anyway? really!

Stitching five numbers is better than no stitches! Sounds like a lot was happening at your place, Fiona.

How 'warmandmushy' to have two of your quilts so loved :) Wonderful stitching lol. Scary plovers :) Well I guess you'd be just as protective of your own! Er even quilts, lol

Good to see those quilts being loved and appreciated.

I'm surprised only one quilt left the building, I think I might have smuggled a few more out

Lovely photo of Widget and your Boys Story quilt. I have had to change my morning walk to avoid the plovers at the moment. Your lucky daughter - it's a beautiful quilt and I'm sure she will love and treasure it Fiona

Well who wouldn't want to take that quilt home and sleep under it - it is gorgeous. Your little man looks very snug under his quilt.

Love your daughters quilt, I'm sure she'll feel all the love that you put into it. They do become our precious quilts and I understand how it feels to say good bye to them. Job well done !

The first of many chapters for Boys Story :)
Nothing nicer than time with family x

Lovely quilts and they will be much loved! Years ago I can remember a family of plovers who lived in trees near the local school's playground...at this time of year, the plovers would divebomb anyone on the playground equipment...a bit like the magpies.

kiwikid said...

Ooooooo...plovers can be so nasty, we had some nesting on our drive way, how silly was that??? Lovely to see a quilt in use and how good is it that your daughter loved that quilt...I love it too!!!

Lovely to see Widget warm and snuggly under his quilt. Love your daughter's quilt, super colours and so much work and love that went into making it for her. I know I have said it before but your quilts are something else :-) Like the stitch on your wash cloth, is it moss stitch? xcx

Mmmm, yummy projects!! The quilt your daughter took possession of is almost as pretty on the back as it is on the front!
