I showed you a post on the spotty gifts I made for Barb....
Now I have a confession... these were not my first attempt at doing her something.....
I made these first....
Big circle placemats made from dotty fabrics....
... and quilted very thoroughly....
... they were even backed with spotty fabric....
I had just finished them when I saw Shez's post here about a swap she did with Barb!!!! She made exactly the same things using some of Rosalie Quinlans pretty fabrics.... so that's when I had to think quick smart about making something else......
These mats were made using a tutorial found HERE .. and are about 14" diameter
for the quilting I marked big circles ...
... using my favourite quilting marking tools.....
I needed some new mats so they will still be used!
Righto, Gotta Go.... I thought it would be fun to make some dolls clothes
... and a frilly dress for a young princess....
madness..... total madness!

Obviously great minds think alike! Your placemats look great Fiona. I'm sure you'll find a use for them.
What a fun idea for placemats! They would be very cheerful for visiting grands, perhaps? Doll's clothes and frilly dresses are a wee bit fiddly, aren't they.
You definitely did double duty on the spots. Now you have a lovely new set of pretty place mats for you. Looking forward to seeing the Princess dress...when did I give you my measurements???? Lol!
Your placemats look wonderful! :0)

Your spotty placemats look great. I can think of some other uses for them too......they will certainly liven up any table. I am eternally grateful that I haven't had to make dolls clothes.......yet.
I have to congratulate you on your quick thinking. Coming up with an alternative is not easy, so well done.
The place mats look wonderful with all that colour and your gorgeous quilting.
The doll clothes are good fun. i always end up making far too many for the grandies. But they do love it.
