Sew-a-long .....

Terry is hosting a Charming Stars sew-along....  it needs 3 charm packs (plus 2 squares) and some contrast colour so I am using up a layer cake (Papillon) I bought quite some time ago.... and have purchased a soft ivory (Bella Solid) to use for the stars.....

A range of these colours and the ivory at the bottom of the pile

The pattern is from Moda Bake Shop HERE

you can read more about it HERE ..... it's fun to sew a quilt with others and even with the same pattern all the quilts look so different..... (there is still time to join... just let Terry know)

I still haven't finished my scrappy stars (which are made wrong so they are scrappy boxes) from Terry's sew-a-long over 2 years ago...... let's hope I make better progress this time.... but I did do some more work on them this week....

There is something masochistically satisfying about trimming up a huge pile of HST squares....

I hope I will have a bundle of finished squares by the end of the weekend

A quilt group I attend is making place mats to be given out with the local Meals on Wheels programme.  I had some left over spotty pieces which I used to practice some free motion and bound them in black.... I think they will be happy for someone....

Righto, Gotto Go... scrappy blocks to make!!!

  7. Great fabrics for your Stars with Terry.
Hmm! After asking google about " masochisitally " I definitely agree with you. I have spent hours trimming back HST this week. Very painful and time consuming.
I am sure your Dotty Bright Placemats will put a smile on a few folks faces.

  21. Oh gorgeous choice of fabrics :) I have mine chosen, I think, I just keep doubting myself, lol. Masochism is the word that comes to my mind when I see that pile of hst squares :) I adore your dotty placemats, so cheery, I think there may be fights over them though :)

  23. I have decided to join this sewalong as well - I love the fabrics you are using - not sure what I will be using, my first thought was scrappy but I'll see. The placements will definitely be a winner - great idea to use some of your practise pieces :-)

  25. Damn & Blast! Fiona, you have had me sitting here, wondering whether to scramble into action & sign up for that QAL over at Terry's!
It looks like something I could actually manage but I already have plenty here to keep my sewing machine humming... maybe I will join her next one?!
And of course you will keep it up to date and not leave it unfinished for another two years, LOL!! x
