Our little grandie girl Maddie turned 3 on Easter Sunday
- we had a lovely Facetime chat and she opened her books from us and her mum read her a story
... she is into My Little Pony at the moment and delighted with her new books ...
(and at the same time I got a lesson on how to take a screen photo of our chat off the ipad!)
a friend made these lovely little mushrooms.. they look just perfect
I baked a ginger and nut loaf... I love these round tins...
I had never seen them before I came here and mushroom making friend found these at an op shop for me at a princely sum of $2 each.... made in Australia but you don't see them new anymore in the shops...
I cut out hexagons and traced them with some of Michelle's stitcheries... this time I have used scraps of wadding as stabiliser... so I just stitched around the edge to hold it in place...
a Rainbow Lorikeet dropped by for a chat....
and I have been appliquing squares on the border of my Polar Bear Quilt designed by Toni
(if you don't know Toni's quilts is worth visiting her ... she has bargains every week - $4 a pattern! - I got four of them last week!)
We had Easter lunch at my daughters and she made this lovely cake for dessert...
.. the inside was just as impressive (Red Velvet)
... oh .. and here is the rest of the mushrooms .....
that is a child size thimble... these mushrooms are minute
Christine is very clever .... and has excellent eyesight (obviously)
Righto, Gotto Go... suddenly I feel like a snack....

Those tins are brilliant! And the mushrooms are so sweet :)
Technology has come a long way, and being able to have face time conversations with friends and family overseas has to be one of the best things to come from it

Lots of lovelies today!! A cute granddaughter, a sweet lorikeet and look at that red cake! I've never had red velvet cake. What does it taste like? And what are the mushrooms made out of?

Oh my! Those toadstools are amazing! So teeny tiny.
Hi Fiona - I finally got time to catch up on some blog reading, yay! - And I loved loved to see what you've been up to - I love love love that butterfly quilt, great job! - And those nut loaf tins, I use my 3 regularly, they are hard to find brand new, but some places still have them...
Your little Maddie is adorable, I remember the My Little Pony stage well. Those mushrooms are incredible, you had me sucked in, had no idea they were that little! I haven't seen those tins here in NZ, but they look perfect for the job, is it tricky to get the centre cooked evenly?
I remember those round tins, though I don't think I ever owned one. Lovely that you can have a real conversation with Maddie. Those mushrooms - no words for that ...maybe why?
wow maddie is 3 already?

Wow... what a great post... I am still in a bit of shock from the last pic of those teeny mushrooms in the thimble. Just lovely. The cake looks amazing, and now I'm hungry too. Love your hexies, and polar bear quilt so much. There is a bakery on top of Tamborine Mtn that makes the BEST EVER date roll in those tins! If ever I go up there I always spoil myself with a whole roll to bring home and eat (over a period of time of course!). If you ever see another one of those tins.... please let me know. I've never seen one myself. Lovely post xx
