I seem to be doing a bit of this and a bit of that lately but I have got a finish....
This wallhanging is made using Michelle's gorgeous stitcheries and design....
I love it....
I used for the first time a gadget which promised quick and easy yo-yo's....
... its a lie... it's not quick... and I didn't find it very easy! it takes half an hour to make a little thing about 3cm diameter.... fiddle fiddle... but sweet and just what I wanted ....
I did another new thing in doing this pretend piped binding.....
(I followed a tutorial HERE)
In the corners and edges I added a little christmas tinker bell...
and a gold bead in the middle of the (not so quick and easy) yo yo flower....
My daughter is off on holiday and had us over for early Christmas lunch.... dessert was little mini pavlova's.... don't they look beautiful... and they were delicious...
As for Lady Gaga and me..... apparently she likes this show... well, she is dating the guy who plays that firie in the front...
I know you will be very suprised that I should like a show like this.... however, there really is not much on TV this time of year and this provides some light (and somewhat delicious) entertainment..
Righto, Gotto Go.... I must go and find the Lady Gaga in me?
hmm ... I really must go and investigate that show with eye candy like that ;) thanks for the heads up! Great, although fiddly, project you are working on there. hugs
ReplyDeleteyou are a scream my friend, truly i was shocked, lol, not, lol.Love your finish, those designs of Michelle's are perfect for this project ,well done Lady Fee Fee,lol.xx
ReplyDeleteLove your wall hanging......and appreciate your honesty! It would be very interesting to see you channelling your inner Gaga!
ReplyDeleteCute little hanging! Life is too short to fiddle round with tiny yo yos......
ReplyDeleteRight there with you on that show. Well done on Holly Jolly Gathering... Love the tinkerbells. Yum mini pavs!
ReplyDeleteThe embellishments add extra bling to your lovely wall hanging. Those little pavs look delicious.
ReplyDeleteDid you find your inner Gaga?
Lovely wall hanging, i bought a gadget for making heart yo yo's very frustrating it was easier to go back to the 'old' method. The pavlova's look delicious and very moreish
ReplyDeleteI've been watching episodes online...not usually my show, but it has some moments and is great to sew to! Love your wall hanging. I really should spend more time sewing and less time visiting...more collecting ideas than completing anything at this point LOL
ReplyDeleteYur wall hanging looks lovely - fiddly little things included.
ReplyDeleteI love that binding and have used it lots.
Chicago Fire is good for eye candy...and background noise whilst sewing
A cute mini and those little yo yos do look fiddlly..
ReplyDeleteYes the fairies are nice eye candy indeed. Enjoy...
With not much worth watching the Firies definitely rate up there at the moment. I tried using one of those gadgets to make yoyos and decided the old way was so much quicker and I liked the result better too - your wallhanging looks lovely and I like doing that piping too.. Yum mini pavs - I should have gatecrashed.
ReplyDeleteI'm on my way over for dessert! Your wall hanging is adorable. I've made round yo yo's with those contraptions and they're pretty easy, but I haven't tried the shapes. Perhaps I won't.I like Chicago Fire, but not sure I'll watch Chicago Cop when it comes out.
ReplyDeleteHi Fiona - another entertaining post from you - but OMG I hope you don't Gaga yourself into a Meat Dress (remember the one she wore a couple of years ago?!)
ReplyDeleteOne of those guy firies on the show was on Neighbours years ago, and more recently House...
Your Christmas quilt is super cute - especially those nerve-frazzling flowers. I think they are the only shape of Kanzashi I have not made yet!
Love your wallhanging and the embellishments. Michelle has so many sweet designs. I'll be sure to check out that show!
ReplyDeleteYour wallhanging is just the cutest! Love it. I have always found yo-yos to be a bit of a pain with or without the gadget. They look so cute attached to quilts though. I am a big fan of Chicago Fire. Great show.
ReplyDeleteYep what's not to like about firemen on TV!;)
ReplyDeleteCute wallhanging, you are very good to persist, I would have stuffed the fiddly yoyo's in the bin!
Love the wallhanging & just love that show. :) Hugs,xx
ReplyDeletebeautiful hanging! love the blue stitching and fabrics for the blocks.
ReplyDeleteWell done on persisting with those flowers hey look very cute.
Now watch out if you are going for the gaga heels, you might do an ankle.
I love your hanging too and am glad you persevered with the yo yo maker as they are just perfect for it. xx
ReplyDeleteOh...love your wall hanging
ReplyDeleteYour wall hanging is lovely Fiona. Those yoyo's do look so lovely with the gold bead in the centre.
ReplyDeleteLove your quilt project , even though the yoyos were fiddly they sure look cute ! Haven't watched that show but maybe I should ;-) hugs Sheila
ReplyDeleteYour work looks wonderful!!
ReplyDeleteSuch a stunning quilt. It's beautiful.
ReplyDeleteLovely wall hanging. All the bits you have added look great. Love the idea of the bells on it. Beautiful work.
ReplyDeleteWhat are the holidays for but to get lost in some mindless TV?
such a cute hanging, love the jingle bells. I have bookmarked that faux piped binding tute as I love the look of it
ReplyDeleteYour little hanging turned out beautiful, with all the little embellishments, which compliment those sweet stitcheries.
ReplyDeleteLove the border stockings.
Hope you didn't go GaGa!
I love making yo-yo's, I've seen those template things to make them with, but gave them a miss. I'm glad I did now.
ReplyDeleteI have some of those templates too, I think I even have the flower one. I've had them at least 5 years...but I always end up using an old cd. I like the size I end up with that way. Your stitching is gorgeous as always. xx debbie
ReplyDeleteGreat quilt Fiona....now I think a bubbly would be a perfect accompaniment for those pavlovas....and especially after those Yoko's!
ReplyDeleteI tried one of those " easy " yo yo makers
ReplyDeleteQuickly went back to the old way
My goodness you have been busy
All lovely as usual
I love your quilt. You have done Michelle's stitcheries great justice :-) I've made yo-yos with these makers and quite liked it - however I've never made many the old way, sounds like I should try!
ReplyDeleteYour wallhanging looks great...I've always watched people using those yo yo thingys and thought they looked way more complicated than chop out a circle and use a gathering stitch to draw it up, but your flowers do add a lovely finishing touch so worth your effort...boy do I feel ripped off, none of my fellow CFA (volunteer Country Fire Authority)fireys look like that! I'm putting in a complaint to the Chief Officer!!! mind you they would say the same thing about me! *LOL*...
