Oh Christmas Tree......

....too early for the Christmas Tree to go up ... but I have been making my own....

Over the last few years I have been trying to make little decorations and send them off instead of cards to various family and friends....

This year I have done a few different ones ...  a few pairs of the boots are done

and this weekend I worked on some trees ... inspired by some I had seen online

(of course fabric strips or ribbons would be just as nice)

... instead of sewing all my selvages I used some lightweight fusible vilene and ironed on the strips....

then a layered with some wadding and backing

.... and quilted with my pretty silver metallic thread
(hoping for the tinsel effect on the trees)

... quite small stippling ....

... then cut 3" strips ......

... easier to do this once it is all quilted....

... I have a wiggly blade so I was using that.....
... cross cut at an angle to get a tree shape....

.. then I butted two trees together (wrong sides facing) and sewed up the sides adding a bit of selvage at the bottom for the tree branch)

(I think this is the sweetest selvage I have ever seen... only enough for one tree so I will keep it for me!!)

...... sorry.....blurry picture....

... then I added a button and some string to hang it on the tree with ...

.... there's a whole tree forest .....

... just need to get a bit of pretty card and some envelopes and I should be ready for posting in good time.....

I made these little ginger men last year...
(pattern and instructions HERE)

.. and these little felt ones the year before....
(I loved the snowflakes)

Righto, Gotto Go.... still some other bits and pieces to finish off ....

I'd love to see other decorations made... need ideas for next year (not that I'm planning that far ahead!)

This a link to the gingerbread men decorations I made a few years ago, but a bit tame after your cute guys! Love the trees and think I am also going to copycat you, as they look fantastic, plus I figure I have time to make them! I also made snowmen decorations (no picture, pre blogging) out of wadding scraps and decorated with buttons on their tummies and embroidery faces.
