I love it that birds have wanted to nest at our home....
this is some finches in our garage
not sure who nested in here .... they are not there now.... this is in our fernery just a couple of metres from the lounge room..
outside our bedroom is another fernery sheltering the room from the afternoon sun... there is a nest in the corner.... can you see the mommy bird?
.. whilst mum Peaceful Dove was out I went and took a snap of this little guy... I just love those beady eyes....
I have been quilting the Paris Flea Market Jelly Roll quilt...
... smothered in feathers....
... although it is dense feathering the quilt is still soft enough to be cuddly ....
I find feathers quite forgiving.... they just mingle into each other..
Dasher and Dancer are my heroes......
Yes I can hear Jingle bells in the air... so much FUN this time of year! Love the little new feathery friend you have staying over too! :)
ReplyDeleteLove the cartoon and your quilting is so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteNice to see birds are nesting around your home. Fun cartoon. Think his other arm is over his shoulder holding his sack. :) Hugs,xx.
ReplyDeletei love watching the birds also,we get some lovely ones where we live too.
ReplyDeleteLove your FMQ,lol,i feel like i have been on this journey with you and i am so proud of what you achieve, well done Fiona.
Lol i think the reindeer got hungrey and santa's arm got in the way, lol, have a awesome day my friend.xx
I agree, it is wonderful to live so close to wild creatures and having them nest nearby is even better. Hugs
ReplyDeletePerhaps Santa is bending his arm back to hold the Sack?! In any case, it's another good funny from you, Fiona.
ReplyDeleteThe quilting is going to look gorgeous, well done, it looks like a lot of work. x
Lovely quilting! Our birds provide us with much amusement, too.
ReplyDeleteVery cute birdies and feathers!!! Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWow to your quilting. Love how you do your feathers. It must be lovely watching your new birds growing. Our only one here is a young magpie who comes with mum, aunts, friends or whoever, to try to beat our dog to her breakfast. Poor old dog is so slow that sometimes they do beat her.
ReplyDeleteHello Fiona,
ReplyDeleteMother nature is right at home in your garden. I am always amazed at how a nest can be made out of a few sticks.
Your quilting is so lovely, just feel like touching and patting it.
Have a lovely weekend.
Bev.
How lovely to see all the nests. I love it in the late spring, seeing all the fledglings badgering mum and dad for food. They sit on our shed roof or along the top of the fence. Makes for good entertainment
ReplyDeleteLOL...love the cartoon and your quilting is 'awesome'...love waking up and hearing the birds..your little fellow is cute
ReplyDeleteI love it when we have birds nesting, we use to have half a breeze block on a windowsill to keep the shutters closed at night. The blue tits use to use if for a nest, we have spent many hours sat outside watching mum and dad flying back and forth feeding babies. When we first moved here our garage window was broken, a swallow use to fly in through the hole and nest at the top of the garage, if we opened the garage door and went in, she kept dive bombing us to warn us she had a nest there!
ReplyDeleteThat cartoon is so funny!!!! Love it!! And, you're right, feathers are so wonderfully soft and blending! Yours are great!!! The texture gets better and better with washing/use!!! Keep those "warm" photos coming!!! Hugs.........
ReplyDeleteI love having birds nests in our trees. They can be messy, but I love seeing baby birdies feeding. We haven't had a nest the last couple of years.
ReplyDeleteLove that quilt Fiona - gorgeous colours and love the feathers, very appropriate considering your previous pictures! We have starlings roosting in our bamboo and the cranes have all flown south - winter is here! xx
ReplyDeleteIt's really lovely when birds come to my garden too, much better than an aviary. Your feather quilting is fantastic.
ReplyDeleteGreat feathers and nice to have feathered friends nesting in your garden...you obviously don't have cats!
ReplyDeleteYou have a little bird sanctuary going on there. Love seeing nests with birds in them. Your feathers look great; something I'm still working on.
ReplyDeleteHaving feathered friends around is always lovely.
ReplyDeleteLovely Fiona, gorgeous feathers all round. Love the cartoon...had to share it with my USA friend!
