FNSI and a bit of Saturday results

One of the benefits of living in Australia is that we can take advantage of an extended Friday night since in other parts of the world they are doing their FNSI sewing...

My Friday started with the arrival of some houseguests for a couple of weeks....

.... meet Molly..... she and my Tarka get on well...(not that it looks like it in this picture!)

... and Chester....

.... and Coco.....

the birds are very cheerful and wolf whistle at me... doing my ego the world of good!

I decided to try and tidy up a bit... I had a pile of preloved flannel so this has been cut up...

...a layer of three pieces and cross hatched....

then sewn together in blocks...

... and we have the basics for a raggy quilt....

(lots of you will have made these but if you haven't they are such a fun quick rug/quilt to make...

after all that sewing I did need a good stretch.. and what better way than to prepare for the evenings sewing...

I had a fresh pineapple that needed using and found THIS recipe for a pineapple and ginger upside down cake.... the mix of ginger and sweetness was lovely... delicious ....

.. once the preparations were made I settled down to a bit of stitching.....

... and I put together some body parts.....

... and I did a bit of ragging up the quilt....
(those clever scissors are just great to use)

... I hope your weekend has started well...

The fires in NSW continue... thinking of those affected and those helping to get them under control - lots of heroes in our world
