A new project.....

I have never done a sampler quilt .....

Sue has done some lovely ones and is doing another at the moment using a jelly roll....

.. and she introduced me to this fun book of quilts....

I got a lovely jelly roll with a bit of extra metreage on a trip to Quilters Angel .....

Paris Flea Market

I don't have the fancy ruler so I adapted my little one.... fiddle fiddle .... I still had trouble with it so Hubz put arrows to help me... I'm such a dork when it comes to that side of things!

... anyway it works fine and I made a bunch of HST's (that's Half Square Triangles - not Hormone Steroid Therapy {which could be an answer for a number of issues!})

Being rather fond of mini bunting I nearly stopped here....

Putting the blocks together gave me a chance to use by double barrelled pins (maybe I do need HST - that's Hormone Steroid Therapy)

I only recently met these pins - they do hold the fabric in two places and is a bit firmer... can sew over them to - just go slowly so the needle slides over the pin - not flat foot like you have had too much HST ....

Pretty soon I had a pretty block....
(my corners are not perfect but they are a lot better than they used to be - that was before HST and double barrelled pins)

... and then another pretty block.....

Oh my goodness - these are such pretty fabrics

Over the weekends while watching TV - well not watching since a lot of it was footy stuff - some of them having had a bit of HST too - I sewed up this little picture - already printed on lovely linen ....

It was in a gift and I don't know who it is by or where it came from but it's lovely .... I think it will be something lovely later..... but I don't know what .....

Righto, Gotto Go... more HST - I'll leave it to you which one I mean...

  4. LOL! Now every time I see the abbreviation for half-square triangles I'm gonna have a fit of the giggles. And I must get some of those double-barreled pins!

Sampler quilts are fun. You get to do something different with each block so it doesn't become boring, and they are interesting quilts to look at when you're done. You chose lovely fabrics. Enjoy!

  6. They will be especially interesting if you get mixed up about which HST to use. ;) Double barrel pins are a great help with so many corners to worry about. Gorgeous fabrics, and it will be a gorgeous quilt.

  16. A sampler quilt and Paris Flea Market - a match made in heaven I'd say. I had this book in my hand at the bookstore the other day, I was so tempted, so I will watch your collection of blocks growing with interest!

  34. Love the blocks. My mum has nearly all their books and has made a few things from them and they have all gone together well too. Mum went out and bought the rulers. But I would do what you did and just mark ones I already have. I'm too stingie at times lol.
