Chris's Snuggle quilt

Those of you who have been reading my blog for a while know that last year I lost a nephew.....

I was honoured to be asked to make a quilt using some of his clothes..... his family is visiting and their snuggle quilt has been gifted.......

There are 21 patches on the front of the quilt... one for each year of his life....

An oak tree has been planted in his name and I have quilted oak leaves here and there amongst the meandering.....

his nick name is quilted on a jeans pocket....

.. the back is patched too....

the only additional fabric I used was for the label... he was very proud of his Zimbabwean heritage and the colours on the border of the label are reflective of that.....

The rainbow has been a very special symbol for the family so I hand stitched one to the label with his name and room for anything extra they might like to add....

I made a funky cushion cover for his brother.....

.. and a soft pillow case for his sister....

This has been the most special quilt I have ever made, what an honour but also so emotional

RIP... darling Sos.... so missed by his family

  23. This is a beautiful quilt made with love in every stitch. I've been working on a memory quilt this week too and although I had never met the man whose shirts I used I sewed them up with love and respect for too short life and the beautiful wife and 3 little children he left behind. A humbling experience.
