I've noticed there are different versions of scraps... some people have big fat 1/4 size scraps... and others are beautifully colour co-ordinated......
.... mine are largely a jumble of smaller pieces .... not colour coordinated because I jump around from one fancy to another....
(I keep imagining that one day I will discover 'my style')
I had thought I had an excellent pile of scraps to make my Scrappy Trips around the world (lots of which came from the left over bits from binding..... {yes, I keep those too!!})
but after a bit of slicing I found that I ran short on 16" strips..... how delighted was I when Sharon said she had some left over from making her ScrappyTrip - which you can see HERE .. and posted them quick smart to me.... thanks - so pretty
Here are a couple of blocks that I have made up ......
It's quite fun to use the unpicker when it is a correct part of the process!!
I do have a goodly pile of 2 1/2" and 3 7/8" for the scrappy stars blocks......
I have also made these cute little bags from some wider scrap pieces and using an Easter pattern by Dawn Hay ..... you can find the pattern on her free patterns page HERE....
They use up relatively small pieces.. and you can adapt it so fit your scraps and join up the fabrics etc of course.... (which is what I did).... and they don't take too long to make up....
... I don't really need 5 of them... (I have made these before and given them to grandie girls) so I have 2 to give away....... if you would like to go in the draw let me know which little gal you would give it to....
Righto, Gotto Go..... I think I should start thinking about a new project... so I can generate some more scraps.... (don't tell Hubz)

My scrap bin seems to be similar to yours - there's no really defined colour or style in it because I really haven't settled on THE style I like ... since I keep finding so many that I like, lol. I pick out the scraps that have a specific colour as I'm saving them for colour blocked quilts - the rest don't seem to have any rhyme or reason!
Your little bags are adorable - thanks for the link to Dawn's bag pattern - I downloaded it :) I'd make these for the 2 little girls next door - they're 3 & 6 and "girly girls" - the perfect age for little bags like these :D
Everything you sew is so so beautiful. Love those little bags, off to check out the pattern now.
My Miss Lily loves the birdie one :) I love playing with scraps, but you already know that :) Enjoy. hugs
You are certainly giving the scrap bucket a workout, I believe it may need refilling!
Cute bags, unfortunately there are no little people in my circle at the moment otherwise I'd whip up a few of these myself.
Enjoy your new project planning.
lol. See....we really need to keep our scraps. Look that at the lovely creations you have made with your fabrics. If I had one of those bags I would keep it for this girl!! lol.
Cheers, Anita.
Boy you have been busy fiona,my little grandie Adie would love the aqua and white one if i was lucky enough to win.Gee you have made a lot of stuff this month Fiona you are on a roll.xx
You are such a wag Fiona. SOON...perhaps... I'll have a little one to give one too... but in the meantime give my chance to someone else! :)
lots of lovely scraps at your place!
your first blocks look great.
very cute little bags too.
It is a very virtuous feeling to use up scraps.........and equally enjoyable to make new ones.
Seems funny, doesn't it......starting a new project just for the scraps!
I love your "new" scraps. What a joy to work with
Fiona!!!!! Stop tempting me !!!!! I so so so want to start that quilt,(scrappy Trips) but I am trying to be strong and stay with the UFOs for a bit longer. Even seeing just a little of yours, I love it already. Great extra pile of scrap strips you got, (I am telling myself I dont have enough 16 inch or more strips to make it - but really I havent even looked.) The little bags are so gorgeous.
I've been eyeing off that scrappy trip but so far am resisting. :)We love the birdie bag here. Hugs,xx
You are really making progress with your scrap busting. Very cute bags....no girls here.
What a great way to use up your scraps, really sweet little bags, must go and get the pattern just in case there is a little one to give to in the future
You do have a lot of fun with those scraps and definitely put them to very good use.
seeing these on lots of blogs...might have to dive into the scrap baskets soon!
cute bags, thanks for the link.
and I have to say....love your new header!
I'm thinking of joining everyone making the scrappy trip-a-long, it looks like fun!
Well my two darling girls would be Beautiful Bridget and Sweetheart Chloe - they would LOVE those little bags.
Thanks for the link to the pattern - just another item for the "to do" list :-)
I purchased a lot of clear plastic tubs and have anything less than a fat quarter in them all colour co ordinated. I have another basket full of strips, and left over binding bits, one full of selvidge trims and one full of well.... unsorted scraps. Every now like you I get creative and try and make a dent in my scrap piles.
Your scrappy Trip blocks look Great...
Cheers
Your Scrappy Quilt is looking good.
What cute wee bags too Fiona..
The blocks for the scrappy trip look great and I love the bags too. I don't have scraps as such so am a bit envious of everyone's scraps lol.
thanks for sharing .... wont a great way of using up scraps
I am enjoying seeing all the variations of this scrappy quilt. Your blocks are great.
You have been busy using up those scraps and in a most delightful way , lovely projects as always!! hugs Sheila
Fiona I am like you, I don't really have a 'style' yet either...
Oh my those little bags are so cute, if I won one, I would send it to my 5 year old niece, she is a gorgeous older sister to two rowdy brothers... x
Sooo cute!!! xxx
I also don't really have a style, and my scraps have to be very small to be called a scrap, otherwise they are still called fabric by me! To me a Fat 1/4 is a lot of fabric, definitely far too worthy to be called a scrap! Gorgeous little bags...... my littlest girl would definitely love these......
Scrappy Trip is looking fantastic, love your blocks :-)
