I have had a beautifully clean house... all is was tidy, meals organised, beds made, cookies baked...... even my sewing stuff tidied (sortof!)
after moaning about the heat and dry.... the rain came
we were not able to go to the airport to fetch rellies..........
... even the galah was not too happy about it.... was expecting extra show off treats....
another view of our 'little creek'.....
... to console myself I made a few more scrappy trip blocks.... this is 6 blocks... aren't they such fun???
Rellies are ensconsed in a motel in the big smoke... Hubz has gone via a back way which is open today .. the main highway is still closed
Floods all over Queensland, fires in NSW .... (the rain is on the way ... but it's not playing nice!)
I am sorry they haven't got here as planned... but everyone is safe and I am happy for that.... there are people having far worse times and I know that....
There is an appeal out for quilts for people affected by the fires in NSW ... see HERE - they have lost everything.....
Righto, Gotto Go... quilt to make.....
... rain to watch...
...... better replenish the chocolates I put on the pillows .... (for the fourth time!)
Waiting is so hard. I hope your husband and visitors arrive safely....and that the rain stops so they can enjoy their visit.
ReplyDeleteYour scrappy blocks look great! Stay safe from all that flooding!
ReplyDeleteHope your visitors arrive safely soon.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the cute trip blocks.
Oh my Fiona. I've been thinking about all of my friends up north. I'm sorry to hear that things have gone a bit crappy up your way. I do hope your Hubby and Rellies arrive back home safely very soon.
ReplyDeleteTake care and stay safe <3
Perhaps the floods and rain will be looked upon by the younger rellies as a bit of an adventure! Keep those chocolates up......
ReplyDeleteHello Fiona,
ReplyDeleteOh sorry to hear about your relies stuck in the city. I hope you didn't wash your car for the visitors!! A local real estate guy sent two of his staff from here to the Gold Coast as a reward on the weekend, so far they have been to the cinema, too wet to do anything else.
Enjoy the time with your relatives when they arrive. I wonder how many chocolates will be eaten between now and then.
Happy days.
Bev.xoxo
Sorry to hear about your rellies. Love your blocks. They look great. Hugs,xx.
ReplyDeleteHope you all continue to to keep safe and dry...
ReplyDeleteIt is just awful to hear all the bad news re fires and floods..
I have sent quilts over to Tassie and have one ready to go to NSW..
We could use a little of that rain down here. Glad to hear everyone is safe, although you might overdose on chocolate! Stay safe and dry and keep producing those fabulous scrappy blocks.
ReplyDeletesorry to hear the relos didn't make it...but glad you're all ok ...
ReplyDeletewhat an amazing country we live in....fire and floods, bit like 2 sides of a coin! never know what you're going to get....

!!!! All that rain!!!!! Heck!!!
ReplyDeleteI hope the rellies don't wonder what they've stumbled into. I knew you would find a constructive way to wait the rain out.....patchworking. Good thinking 99.
Cheers, Anita.
It's been a strange week or so with this CrAZy weather hasn't it! Stay safe and enjoy the tidiness! while it lasts... :)

Stay safe Fiona. xx
ReplyDeleteWow thats alot of water, hope your relies make it safely to you house. Your scrappy blocks look fantastic, my quilt is all finished now, just waiting to be quilted.
ReplyDeleteHope your hubby and the rellies make it safe and sound, Fiona, stay dry and safe! That creek looks more like a river at the moment!
ReplyDeleteStay safe and I hope your visitors get to you safe soon. I love your new blocks. hugs
ReplyDeleteStay safe and I hope your visitors get to you safe soon. I love your new blocks. hugs
ReplyDeleteAustralia has lots of extreme weather. Here we just have cold and snow.
ReplyDeleteWe have been watching the news updates and can't believe how quickly this has happened. I am thinking of all those who lost so much in floods 2 years back and here they go again. It is crazy that there are relief efforts for both fires and floods at the same time.
ReplyDeleteSorry that your family can't get through but glad all are safe.
Good luck.
Oh Fiona, that is so disappointing when that happens, it spoils all your plans, and cuts down your time together...dam. We felt the same when the silly volcano erupted in Iceland...guess who had a flight booked to go to UK that week!!!! We eventually got there a week later but my planned birthday celebrations sort of fell apart as not everyone was available that week....dam. I think there will be floods here soon, the rivers were very high and we have had more snow and rain since...... stay safe and enjoy the rest of the time with your rellies. Hugs xx
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear everyone is safe, enjoy your time with them when they eventually arrive. Making quilts in the meantime seems the best way to use the time

ReplyDeleteGlad your in-laws are safe and sound and you too Fiona. It seems not too long ago that you were going through the flooding. I'm glad yu are making the most of the waiting, the quilt does look cheery.
ReplyDeleteTake care,
Tracy
can't get over the picture of your little creek!!
ReplyDeletestay safe and as dry as you can. Hope the rellies get there soon.
It sure has been hairy. Sorry your rellies didn't get a better reception from good old "sunny" Queensland. Glad you are all safe. So glad that ferocious winds have gone.
ReplyDeleteHave fun with the family.
Hugs xx
Oh dear that doesn't look pretty at all , a lot of rain has obviously come down .Hope your family arrive safe and sound and you enjoy a lovely visit . Great blocks!! Hugs Sheila
ReplyDeleteI hope your family make it to you safely. We watch the Aussie news and feel for you all. Love your blocks! Hugs Wendy
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about all the rain, stay safe!
ReplyDeleteLove your scrap blocks. Have seen the pattern, will be such a nice quilt :-)
Yikes, that is some raging water! So glad DH played safe and didnt attempt a crossing, as some others and risked their livers. Hope the rellies arrived safe and sound and the rain stops soon. Hope that the floods stop soon too, but know that there is unfortunatley more to unfold in this disaster for your state again - heartfelt sympathy for those doing it tough again.
ReplyDeleteThe floods and fires are just devastating for a lot of people. I am glad though that you are high and dry and that your relies are with you soon.
ReplyDeletethinking of you all up there Fiona - this is just unbelievable, isn't it? Fires in NSW and Victoria - now floods in NSW and Qld which are just devastating as well. Stay safe and enjoy your time with the rellies when they get there. Meanwhile that quilt is looking great.
ReplyDeleteI know the worst is over for you now - love the poor galah and your bit about the chocolates - really they would never had known if there had been none left!!
ReplyDeleteHope your rellies have managed to get through, looks like your little creek has turned into a torrent. Hope it all improves soon, best thing to do sit and sew, take care
ReplyDeletehope the visitors got there safe and sound and the waters are residing..........thanks for posting about the fire appeal.........
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad that your all safe, the joys of living Down Under! Your scrappy is looking fabulous.
ReplyDeleteI'd give up putting the chocolates on the pillows and just eat them :)
ReplyDeleteStay safe xx
Wow the photos are amazing Fiona. I can't believe it's raining here again today... but I've found out I can get to work today!!! I'm glad you are safe and I hope your rellies are "enjoying" their stay!!! xx
ReplyDeleteI hope the rains have stopped for you now. Two things:
ReplyDelete1. I've always wondered what a gallah is and thought maybe Alf Roberts from Home and Away had made it up (you flamin' gallah!)
2. I am SO coming to stay with you if you put chocolates on the guests' pillows!
