..... you have served me well.....
... but there's a new boy on the block.....
ok... so it's silly to gender a peg bag....
but admit it... you'd like a snazzy looking male to help with your washing wouldn't you????
This was a UFO from laaaaaaaast year... I was initially going to use up an old pair of shrunken jeans but I changed my mind (as I am totally entitled to do) and recycled an old table cloth.... and used up some scraps... and some of those buttons which seem to pop up in the washing machine from time to time....
(Peg bag pattern from an old issue of Handmade (I tore out the pages so I don't know which one) and designed by Yvonne Reid)
... my old friend is being recycled....
..... into garden mulch.....
did you know you can adjust the bobbin doofy so that it takes a bit more thread.....
.... well, I didn't......
. you can see mine was only filling to about 2/3's of the bobbin.... so I undid that little screw on top and moved the leaf shaped doofy.... then tightened the screw up again.....
.... now it fills up properly and I have to change it less often...
Righto, Gotto Go..... these guys are growing .....
thats is marveleous how you recycle items Fiona, well done and those little guys looks so cute.xx
ReplyDeleteWhat a clever little person you are. Giver of new life, land carer, doover fixer AND an optometrist.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas :)
Love your peg bag & yes i'd like a snazzy male to help hand the washing. :) Oh thanks for the tip with the sewing machine. Hugs,
ReplyDeleteLove your new wash day helper. I have a wire one that hangs on the line as my helper is much better looking when he is home to help lol.
ReplyDeleteNow a male that helps with household chores sure would be a bonus.
ReplyDeleteYour peg bag is so cute, makes me want to upgrade from my plastic one.
I see the eyes are still watching you!
Enjoy
If I put a basket in my garden, it would become a mouse house, lol. Good idea though, never thought to put my old baskets into the mulch pile.

I have the opposite problem with my bobbin winder. It overfills, and always after my machine is serviced I have to try to adjust it back again. (even when I mention it at service time). Love those eyes looking at us all. Look like they will be cute faces.
ReplyDeleteROFL - now that is one nice peg bag - very well done, Fiona!
ReplyDeleteGee makes my old ice cream container look a tad shabby.VERY spiffy.
ReplyDeleteThat was one worn out basket! I love your new peg bag! :0)
ReplyDeleteYou know - it never occurred to me that I might be able to adjust my bobbin winder to be able to fill the bobbin more - I know Slanty (my Singer slant needle machine) only fills about 2/3 full and it drives me crazy. When I go downstairs I'm going to see if I can adjust it - thanks for the tip!
ReplyDeleteCute clothespin bag!
Great peg bag Fiona , such a great way to recycle too ! I always learn something new when I come here ,didn't know about the bobbin winder adjustment.
ReplyDeleteShe served you well...but I think the new one will as well...very nice indeed..
ReplyDeleteI think it was certainly time to get a new one....I used to sew the bottom of a child's dress up, hang it on a hanger and use that for my pegs...I don't hang clothes outside now, I usually hand the outer clothes on hangers after 15 minutes in the dryer, hang them in the laundry room to finish drying...
ReplyDeleteHope your week is going well.

Lovely peg bag and the bobbin tip is good. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteHa Ha - more eyes to watch you!! I love the way the letters for "pegs" are hung up.
ReplyDeleteI learned that bobbin trick a while back - I too was getting a lot less on my bobbins than I should have.
cute peg bag ... I love to hang the wash outside to dry.

ReplyDeleteSmart lesson re your machine.
I love your peg bag Fiona. Very clever of you to use an old tablecloth.
ReplyDeleteGreat tip, and I love the peg bag
ReplyDeleteYour title made my heart skip a beat! Thank goodness it's only the peg bag!! I love your new one, you are so good at recycling and making things look beautiful. Hugs x
ReplyDeleteIf I laid that basket out in my garden like that it would still be there ten years from now, looking very unchanged! Oh the things heat can do. Your gingerbread men are growing!
ReplyDeleteWonderful peg bag, and no don't find it strange to give it a gender ;-)
ReplyDeleteGee, don't ya just love those little "Doofy" things ... bye bye old peg basket mine needs to be retired as well but somehow you get attached to them.... hugs x
ReplyDeleteI'm the same, you do get a bit attached to household items you use everyday. But your peg basket really had given its all. Love the new look.
ReplyDeleteYour house must be full of lovely handmade things, I want to live in your house!
ReplyDeleteYour peg bag is lovely , much nicer than the old one....
ReplyDeletei agree with the other girls that you are one clever cookie at this recycling stuff Fiona ... well done to your old peg basket and i hope your new fella holds up just as well ... it is very cute indeed ...
ReplyDeletei did know about that tip with the bobbin too ... but of late have found myself whining about the bobbin not filling properly ... thanks for jogging this old brain into remembering ... its muchly appreciated ... now i will get full bobbins again ... yay ...
cute little eyes watching ....
Love your new peg bag Fiona - can't wait to see what those little guys are lol
ReplyDeleteHmm think you replaced the old bag just in the nick of time LOL. You betcha I want a snazzy male helping and if gender-ing peg bags is how I get it, well so be it :) OOOH another tricky tip, I must check out my doofy :)
ReplyDeleteYour new peg bag is great, love how you're recycling the old one!
ReplyDeleteThat bobbin setting is interesting... I would never have guessed! Then again, I only found out a couple of months ago that on some machines one can set the tension on the bobbin casing too. That was an eye-opener, let me tell you. Never too old to learn and all that! :)
