Dawn and Wendy host Sew It's Finished. The challenge is to list and photograph all UFO's at the beginning of the year and work through these.
So far I have kept to at least one a month... this is my 17th finish... but sadly I still have lots more... but I am over half way through my list!!!
Whenever I have wanted to do a quilt with a new technique I try and do something small first... just to check I can actually do it... and that I will enjoy it enough to finish a quilt....

This top was made to practice blanket stitching in 2009 and later to practice FMQ - it has been sitting in my cupboard since...
I wanted to do hand blanket stitching for this quilt.......
(Noah and Friends from Kookaburra Cottage Quilts but with an adaption of my own in the middle to acknowledge widget's Kiwi heritage) .....
this was made before my blog days and I just loved making it

I have finally used the lonely forgotten top to make a cushion.....
quilted pillowcase slip cover for the backing....
I know I used a pattern from a magazine for the vase picture... not sure which one though....
Righto, Gotto Go.... I am embarrassed to say I still have a long list of UFO's
... and have started projects this year that have become UFO's now.....

Love your new cushion cover, yeah another finish! I am doing some hand applique at the moment, actually I have two on the go (opps) I really enjoy doing it on an evening, in front of the fire. Hugs x
ReplyDeleteYour cushion cover looks great as does the quilt. One UFO at a time :) hugs
ReplyDeleteDo love your cushion cover Fiona. The colours are so vibrant and I like that you have used a darker thread to do the blanket stitch. I think I need to develop a UFO strategy as well - I have so many!
ReplyDeleteFiona, that cushion looks great - what a good idea to do a practice piece first - maybe that would stop a lot of UFOs!!
