I do........
chooks in a row
I did have a problem with some of them..... I made a few that were looking over their @#&* tail feathers so a bit of reverse stitching was required.....
(note to me - pay attention to which seam you are sewing)
I wanted a bit of weight so these are filled with little plasticy teady bear filling beads - the pins do go in fine but I'm not too sure if it will be good for them (the pins) long term....
Excellent for holding down pattern pieces.....
I ran out of beads..... so some of them are slumped in a corner looking like they have had the stuffing knocked out of them ...
in fact, of course, they haven't had any stuffing yet to be knocked out of them
in fact, of course, they haven't had any stuffing yet to be knocked out of them
.... I made up 5 1/2" squares of 'fabric' with selvages and used THIS tutorial ....
Righto, Gotto Go....... I am being watched ......

Enjoy that quilt.
I love selvedge projects and your cookies are really cute.
ReplyDeleteWow, you've got a real henhouse happening there :o)
ReplyDeleteIs that a SKOFW I spy being pinned?
Chickens everywhere , so cute , love them with the selvages .
ReplyDeleteLove your chooks, I made some years ago, but they were log cabins, I think I used rice to weigh them down. Its a great use for selvedges though...(rather have log cabins on a quilt) and will make lovely gifts...I assume you dont need 8 new pin cushions!
ReplyDeleteI love your selvage chooks, but I love the pile of unstuffed ones the most! They make me laugh! :0)
ReplyDeleteLove them. What a great way to use up selvages.

They're adorable!
ReplyDeleteall your chooks look great........
ReplyDeletetoo funny...love your pin cushions
ReplyDeleteThose eyes are very funny! How much more do you reckon you will get done before you go?
ReplyDeleteJust adorable - you will be able to start a farm soon. Have you tried rice as stuffing?? I always put it in my pincushions and its nice & heavy. (I usually zap it in the microwave a bit first in case there are any little creepy crawlies - or you could try a low oven). Love your new header too - bet that came from your Toowommba day???
ReplyDeleteLove your chooks. They are so cute. Hugs,
ReplyDeleteYour chooks are delightful and have to bring a smile to those who see them. Looks like they are great as pin cushions and as pattern weights. Smart move.
ReplyDeleteAnd I had to crack up at the eyes on the clips holding the quilt.
Good luck with your pinning.
Oh, I love those chooks, what fun
ReplyDeleteyou have quite a flock happening there!
ReplyDeleteHow exciting you are pinning your skow quilt!
Oh I just love them! I hope they are all hens and there isn't a rooster in there......you will have baby chicks running everywhere!!!! Hugs
ReplyDeletePoor flat chookies. I hope the stuffed ones are not making them feel deflated...The poppies look so beautiful on your header.
ReplyDeleteLove them Bubz....
ReplyDeleteYour chooks are as cute as
ReplyDeleteThey are a nosy lot of chooks aren't they? But I suppose if they are helping you to sew then they can be excused!
ReplyDeleteFiona at least these chooks aren't the types that will wake the neighbours at dawn! They look great, and I've loved reading this post... x
ReplyDeleteThose are absolutely gorgeous! The first thing taught myself to sew was one of those chickens. I kept sewing the tail on the inside! lol I always have at least one on the dash board of my car. Seeing yours has inspired me to make some more!
