Last year I made up the top of this very cute quilt designed by Little Miss Shabby ...
I used a charm pack of Rural Jardin and had a piece for the border and binding... I bought the red sashing separately .....
Stitcheries were done using 6 threads.... quite hard on the fingers but I did like the effect...
My aloes in the garden are looking stunning at the moment.....
I didn't want to quilt over the stitcheries so I let my feathers flow over onto the unstitched areas of the blocks and the border ...
the cream thread softened the very bold red I had used for the sashing....
I haven't quilted such a large amount of feathers before.... I rather like it....
The posts showing the individual stitcheries I did in detail can all be found HERE and the patterns are still available on LMS page HERE
Another UFO finished .... yay
You know by now I am reasonably environmentally conscious.... there is a very good reason why....
Righto, Gotto Go..... I'm off to find some of that stuff I pay carbon tax for......
Your quilting is fabulous, love the feather design with pebbles running along the spine! Chocolate makes everything feel better, doesn't it?

I haven't used 6 threads to stitch before but they look great on your birdie blocks. I did use 4 by mistake last night when the rest of the stitchery is done in 3 strands. I am telling myself it is not obvious & now I check carefully. Those feathers are gorgeous - great quilting! Tracee xx
ReplyDeleteThis quilt is awesome! And I love how you quilted it, too! Very smart to feather into the stitchery blocks, but not hit the stitching....and those pearls in the feather stems are fabulous! Great job!
ReplyDeleteFiona, your Birdie Stitches quilt turned out gorgeous....love those Rural Jardin fabrics...and the quilting is so nicely done. I downloaded the patterns last year but have yet to start the first one. My embroidery leaves a lot to be desired! Hope you found some of that wonderful chocolatey treat as a reward for your finish! :o)
