For a while now I have been admiring foundation paper piecing projects ... and been watching an online stitchalong.....
I have finally plucked up the courage to cut into some lovely fat quarters I was lucky enough to win last year...

Introducing NEW YORK BEAUTY hosted by Sara from Sew Sweetness....
This is Block 0 and Kim's Tutorial is HERE
I am going to try for 2 of each block... at the end I should have 20 blocks which will be a great start to a quilt....
and depending on how far the fabric goes it might even be a bigger quilt

The step by step pictoral tutorials really make it easy for a beginner like me to follow
I am WAYYYYYY behind the schedule.... but am really rather excited about this completely different style and set of fabrics ....
(I was not careful enough in this second one... can you see the yellow fabric was a bit short in places so I may need to make an extra one of these!!)

They take me ages... but are SOOOOOO much fun
.... oh... and I have started playing with my collection of selvages...
... some things just make me smile....

Wow you don't start with anything easy do you!! I have only made a few mug rugs using FPP ...and they were difficult enough, I think I need lots of practise to understand it more, I keep putting my fabric in the wrong place!!!!! Hugs

I am with you foundation piecing is such a challenge but the results pay off, I seem to get it all back to front.

Your New York Beauty looks wonderful. Paper piecing is slow, but dont you love the accurate points.

New York Beauty is a fun block to make....last year I finished a quilt that had been on the go for a few years, with that design!
Oh My Gosh! I love that block and have printed it off. The chicken is the cutest too.
I am in a sewing slump and have been knitting and watching TV like a slug!! But I am snapped out of it. I love to paperpiece and this block is beautifullllll!!! Thanks Fiona.

Those are beautiful blocks and beautiful piecing. I do not have the patience for that, but I do love them. Wonderful idea for your selvedges, fun pin cushion.

Your blocks are awesome. However, it looks rather difficult to me. I never seem to be able to get the hang of foundation piecing. Love your little chicken made with the selvages. Very clever! Nola
