Thanks to Annette who sent me these lovely fabrics to add to my collection of orientals which I am using for these blocks
I think I am going to have such fun doing these - the colours and designs are so varied and happy

(that is supposed to mean Japanese blocks - in Japanese - I am open to correction)
this page will be my showcase for the blocks made
I have reaped my pretty YingYang bean seeds
I received seeds last year from Tracy - they grew, we ate, we have kept seeds
(if you enjoy home grown goodness you really should visit Tracy at Sunny Corner Farm)
I really think these should sit in a pretty glass dish
and admired my little flowering gum
it is only just over a metre tall
and the flowers from this little beauty now decorate my blog header

used my Go Cutter to cut flannel raggy squares
I had a bit of trouble getting nice clean cuts on all the raggy bits.... anybody got helpful hints?
then I sewed up sandwiches of 3 flannel raggy squares
the squares will be made up into a quilt for the Quilting Angels to give out
Righto - Gotta Go.... quilt needs pinning, tea needs sipping,
laundry needs washing, hoovering needs , ironing needs doing, food needs cooking, tables need dusting

Oh, I love those flowering gums.....we had one at our last house, and they are used as street trees here. Looking forward to seeing your Japanese blocks as they progress!
The fabrics in the first Oriental block, are so nice. I have used them in a coin quilt. Yep nothing surpasses a flowering um when in season.
WOW! The flowers on your blog header are gorgeous! I see you have some of that colour in your flannel blocks. I didn't know there was a cutting template that cut the fringe for flannel blocks. What a great idea.

Love the header and the japanese prints!
Re the go cutter issue.... is the mat in good order? Apparently once it is past its "use by" date it won't let the die cut well. You can use the centre of the square mat on other dies where the shape is in the centre. and don't forget to clean out the die shape often with the raggy block, as there will be lots of fluff inside the blade area. Hope this helps!

I love the photo in your blog header and the gum is so pretty.
I am having a similar issue with my Go! when cutting tumbler blocks, so will be reading any suggestions you receives with interest. I was not expecting any problems as all the reviews talked about clean cuts.

I think Asian prints are sooo pretty. You've got some great fabrics and great blocks.
I've not seen bean seeds like those before...but, they would look really cool in a dish or glass jar =)

Your fabric is gorgeous...I have been admiring your header and what a surprise to see the height of the tree and laden with flowers..it will be a lovely specimen in your garden...
So many things to love about your blog today, starting with the flowers on the blog header! They are too pretty for words! The Japanese blocks are lovely as well. I've never seen yin yang beans but they are fascinating and very pretty! Hmmmm...I wonder if they would grow in Arizona. Probably not. Too hot here, too dry and besides the beans don't have prickly thorns on 'em like most everything else that grows here does! :)

Those beans are so cute. Love the flowering gum, we had one similar in our yard but had to cut it down. I nearly cried when it had to go-it seems the tree loved out storm water pipes.

Love reading your blog as things are all new to me. Haven't seen Japanese fabric before, it's beautiful, not seen a gum tree before, those flowers are lovely and I haven't seen those beans before!! See even at my age you learn something new every day!!!!

Flowering gums are so pretty, such magnificent trees when they grow up into big trees, great picture as your header.
