Buttons......

I needed some buttons....


I found some of this moulding stuff.....


easy to work with... gave it a roll...


I found a nice star cutter... the heart shape was a round cutter which I gave a bit of gentle persuasion!


roll, roll, press, press.....


made holes for threads using a tooth pick....


I used up the whole block


leave them to dry for at least 24 hours...

file off the sharp edges....



then paint, or print, or varnish...... I painted and then applied 2 layers of Modge Podge to seal .... 


they are not incredible ... but they will do the job....


The Modge Podge blocked up the holes, so I will be asking Hubz to get out a nice fine drill and fix them up for me ......

Have you made something similar... any hints?

  12. What is the mouldig stuff and where did you get it? Spotty? Love the concept of making your own buttons, they look great...no idea what Mod Podge is either but I'm off to chat to Mr Google about that one...
