A fun day....

The lovely Sunday Stitchers from Brisbane are on a retreat close by me and I was so lucky to be able to go and sew with them...

I'm sure some of them will be recognised…..

I did have a delivery to make.... lucky for me to have had some of their lovely quilts to play with.....

Another retreat was on next door… there might have been a morning tea party and show and tell during the morning... and another next door in the afternoon....

I worked on putting together a bunch of precut postcard blocks.....

I had taken photographs of where I wanted the colours so after setting each out they went together fairly quickly....

Then I started my sisters blocks..… Sue is doing these and since I have some African themed fabrics I knew that is what I wanted to do with them......

'Sisi' is a Shona word for Sisters

I love love them.... so fun to do

Righto, Gotto Go..... it has been a horrible windy and dusty few days.... luckily no fires near us but many places do have.... tough times for so many...

Hope you have a lovely week....

Things at home.....

Since getting home after our break I have done a bit of sewing....

This is the August block for Garden Sunshine.... it was a mixture of foundation piecing, piecing and applique....

… and I got back to Wings with a  couple of blocks...

Lily and Dragonfly....

Bird in a Teacup....

A friend gave me this lovely King Orchid which has 4 spikes of flowers....

… and another postcard has been stitched....  I still have quite a few of these to do so I better get going with them...

I finished the first little penguin jumper.....

It's a very easy pattern and this will be my 'in the car' knitting project and just keep making them up as I go.... no rush but something to keep my hands busy when I'm a passenger...

Winter is 'officially' over now here....  I am hoping it means the end of coughs and colds …..  and it's already time to get those September things done!

Have a great week.....

Quilt Show.... (photoheavy)

Last weekend a friend and I went to a quilt show in a country town called Rosewood...  I understand they have about 45 members which made it very impressive what a great show they had on...

What a lovely view through the quilts and a wonderful surprise seeing these two there …..

Rows of lovely quilts....

Some I took close up of the quilting ….

Mostly I just took pictures because they are lovely and you get a great view through a camera rather than a couple of feet away....

Lots of horse themed quilts as expected in the country....

I loved how she arranged her colours in this one....

also a lovely pretty display of tea things....

other crafts were also displayed.... I adored these punch needle galahs….. and that clever crochet it is rested on....

Baltimores...

 … and blocks....

I do fancy these Labyrinth quilts…. all different ….. I'd love to do one ….

EPP little stars... for the mad people....

This one was amazing... how she got the colours to make those secondary shapes....

loved the colours and the work in this one

striking ….

Hexagons.. for mad people... looked like a smartie box....

Bargello....

Optical illusions....

so effective and lots of little pieces carefully placed....

I loved this one - so much to see in it...

I have seen pictures of this one but not in real life.... so effective....

This night sky was so good....

all the fireworks stitched..... so clever....

can never go wrong with stars....

… or embroidery....

a cute Christmas quilt.....

I did love these puddings....

…. a fractured Bargello... clever and different....

… another with lots in it....

cute dogs....

… with lovely footprint quilting....

Signs all over not to touch and ladies with gloves to help if needed....

I did like this sign where they used a real pair of glasses....

There were a lot more quilts....  jolly good show ladies.

I love going to quilt shows... especially with friends and meeting up with other friends!

Oh, and country women put on lovely teas too.  This show was $5 entrance which included a complimentary tea/coffee and eats (sandwiches AND slices on a plate)…. I might have had some more for 'lunch'..... it was a long day!
