Another week bites the dust.....

.... literally... the week has gone and there is nothing but dust around!

This week another 9 blocks were added to Anthology .....

... I do like how every now and then a little picture fits in ..... here is a teeny little dog...

I added another 4 circles to my collection....

Craft Alive was in Toowoomba over the weekend and I went on Saturday.... thankfully the heat wave had not hit too hard and though warm it was not too bad...

I was really pleased to find a new fabric type business called Blockopedia....

they are focussing on handmade blocks so you can print your own fabric but they also have fabric and finished items on sale....

This pack of 6" blocks took my fancy.... they had a good size quilt made from similar and I thought they were a bit different from usual...

When I went back later (friends wanted blocks) I noticed they had some Kantha stiTch coverlets on sale ($50 for king size)

I have always had one of these on my wish list... never found the fabric I wanted and never developed the skill....

First time I have purchased a quilt.... (couldn't make it for that price either)

I'm just delighted with it... there is no stuffing inside (so not really a quilt) but light, pretty and just gorgeous.... perfect for heat wave time...

It was going to be a gift .... but now I'm not too sure!

Last week I used my 10 minutes a day on the machine to finish up these UFO mug rugz which have been hanging about for a couple of years....

I pimped them up with lace and tape measure tape....

... these will be good ones to use on our sewing days at my house....

I had scraps of these batik fabrics so I made some 'masculine' mats too....

.. they got pimped up with some ric-rac.......

Now Hubz can have his friends around too!!!

I think you can tell I'm in the "I love mug rugz" team... I use them all the time.... coasters that get stuck on the bottom of cups annoy me to death... and I always prefer handmade even if a bit scrappy....  these are UFO's too so double pleased to have them done....

Righto, Gotto Go.... have a lovely week..... keep warm, keep cool - depending on whichever hemisphere you are in.....

The Weekend disappeared......

... but I did all sorts of little bits and pieces done...

Towards the end of last week we had a couple of days with this kind of view..... I have to say I just loved it....  the temperature dropped from mid 30's on Wednesday to mid 20's on thursday and to 16 on Friday.... had to go and dig out the tracksuit pants and thick socks!!!  Just wonderful....

Not heaps of rain but it will certainly help get the grass green again....

... and always lovely when there is a pretty rainbow at the end of it.  I can never get a good picture of the colours but they were there.....

Friday night was sewing with the girls at Quilters Angel... we had a big group this week and lots of chatting... and a bit of stitching.....  I carried on with Flowerville....

I finished another Dutch Treat on Saturday.... it was almost done anyway and just needed one of the straight edges finished off.....

Hubz wanted some plants to fill in where some of his hedge had died and I spied some little succulents and remembered I had some glass hanging terrarium thingiemabobs....

... a bit of mess and now they are hanging in my bathroom..... we have these rather odd towel hanger thingamiebobs which don't hold towels well but they work for my terrarium thingamiebobs....  they look good against the mirror ....

I hope they survive... I don't have a good track record with indoor plants but hopefully Hubz will keep an eye on them....

My next UFO project is some mug rugs which have been lying around for ages.... but I wanted to pimp them up a bit... so I got some bits of lace to handstitch down....

... and bits of rickrack to fiddle with.....

Righto, Gotto Go - we are back to Monday and I need to get to doing some work....

Have a lovely week......xx

January ......

Oh My Goodness... where did January go?  It's so hard to believe it's already February..... eeek

I've had a fairly good month working on my pile of UFO's that I had discovered!!!  I am linking up with Joy and her challenge Finishing Stitches.... we are not only showing what is finished but any progress on UFO's that we had at the beginning of the year with the goal to cut the number by half....

This cushion just had the binding to sew down by hand...... always good to start with a fairly quick one...

One of our Tuesday girls week progress was these 6 blocks towards the Anthology quilt....

I sewed my pile of beach huts and made this beach scene picture.... it is yet to be quilted but progress made....

I had a lot of beach huts so a bath mat and two tray mats were made .....

Dutch Treat continues though slowly... I am happy to have achieved at least one a week ...

Lately my machine sewing time has been spent putting this TeaTime table topper together.... I do love the embroideries on it.... yet to be quilted....

I've done another set of tags for No Fuss SAL....  these are so fun and relaxing to do....

A second cushion was finished - also just needed the binding sewing down ....

.. and this week 9 more blocks towards Anthology....

every now and then I put in something 'meaningful'... that block top middle has letters in the corners - the first initial of my 4 children.....

I am happy with the progress towards the UFO's.....thank you Joy for helping me to keep on track....

Righto, Gotto Go... off to dig out another project to work on .....  mug rugs I think.....

Flimsy done.....

Yippee, I have put my embroidered teacups and pots into a top... it will be a table topper once it is all together.

I have some more of the green that I put borders around the blocks which will be used for the binding...

Personally I feel the bold blocks take away from the dainty embroideries.... but I can live with that...

Anyway... I am now back to 13 unquilted flimsies in my cupboard as this one goes to join them ....

To celebrate I have started a new project.... circles.  I loved watching Sue do hers and then Michelle started one and I really didn't want to be left out! (I've picked out posts where they have shown theirs - just click on their names)  I have 3 batik charm packs collected over the years and I bought some prints that I like which contrast nicely

On our walky this week I noticed what looked like an unusual flower or leaves coming from the side of the bark....

... lots of little wiggly bugs with clever camouflage....

I didn't want to pick them up for a closer look ...

I am still struggling to do much quilting at a time in the heat.  I like using gloves as they give a good grip and therefore puts less pressure on my shoulders.  On projects that aren't too big a drop of Glycerine works well... just a drop rubbed in and allowed to dry and you can feel that bit of sticky....

Righto, Gotto Go.... I'm going to needing to use the gloves today

This weeks blocks.....

At the weekend Hubz and I had a little walk at a nearby park.... the clouds were all over ... but not bringing any rain unfortunately.....

This week's Dutch Treat block is a sail boat...

.... and 6 new blocks towards the Anthology quilt.....

.. and one towards Living the Dream quilt with the No Fuss Stitchalong....

My 10 minutes a day machine sewing continues ... sometimes it is spent preparing but now I have my 9 patch blocks done.....

... the next task is to make green and white squares to go around the border .... then I can start sewing the rows together.... it's getting there....

It's still hot here and I am struggling to quilt for very long .... so short bursts and then something to cool down... like doing a blog post in front of the air conditioner!

Righto, Gotto Go....  I can go back and do a little more now....
