My UFO's........

You may have realised this is my purging of sewing cupboards time and trying to remember projects I once started!!!

UFO's which need working on

Last year I made up a single bed size ripple blanket.  I am using up the left over wools to make a small crib size (I expect I will get a bit of extra yarn and make a border.  I'm about half way I think.

I like something like crochet or knitting in the car, sometimes I don't want to be bothered with watching out for a pattern or changing wool.... so I have this little blanket going... so I have a boy and a girl one available for emergencies...

I like how this yarn makes it's own pattern

Anthology continues to be worked on with the Tuesday girls.... we probably will have all the blocks done in a couple of months.... the other two ladies have been too clever and are doing quilt as you go so I will have a lot of work to do... however I have been adding sashing as I go so that part is done.

This Christmas wallhanging which I just love needs lots of work... It's so long since I played with it I have no idea where I am up to.  I must do prep work and I think it might be a good one to take on retreat days...

I loved this fabric with birds and hearts on ... I want to sew them up and stuff them with lavender.  Some are sewn .... many aren't.....  This will be another good retreat project

This gorgeous diamond quilt is the one I am working on using my newly gifted treadle... I am at the stage where I need to do a whole lot of cutting before I can do any more....

Gardeners Journal... all the stitcheries are done.....  quite a lot more to do...

No Fuss Stitch-a-long ..... lovely little stitcheries which will be added to Tilda fabrics to make a very pretty quilt.... loving these...

Holly Cottage Stitch-a-long.... on the homeward run now with a couple more blocks to do and then put it all together.... sewing the blocks all up each month will make putting it together nice and quick...

Dutch Treat.... I have quite a lot more... but I'm still further ahead than I thought I would be....  when I've done all the blocks the border is going to be a year's work on it's own....  my longest term project I have done ....

this is the remainder of my beach huts.... I have already worked on these though not yet finished any of the 4 items I made with them....

This panel has been quilted.... it needs binding sewn down  - thats all it needs...

My two cushions need their binding sewn down.... I'm off to get one out right away and do that tonight ...

This big quilt needs it's binding sewn down.. it's simply not going to happen until the weather cools down...

This stitchery needs to be completed...

This stitchery has been finished but I want to make it up into the needlecase it was sewn for....

I have a bunch of these stitcheries.  I decided not to make the quilt but use them in individual projects... well, I still am thinking of what to use them for... so far I have 3 cushions (and there are still some stitcheries that haven't been started)

These mug rug potentials have been around for aaaaaagggggeeeessss... quick and easy for one day

I also have a bunch of stitcheries together, which I don't know what I will do with... though I am hatching a plan for some shopping bags......  Also some other left over bits that I am not ready to throw away but I've left them in the box wanting to keep my list realistic???????? hmmmm not gonna happen but at least this way I keep them in mind.

I am going to have a page for all of these - so it's easy for me to look back and tick off as I make them.

Righto, Gotto Go.. off to fetch that cushion to bind tonight... then I will have a UFO finish!

Quilt Tops.....

At present there are 12 quilt tops (finished) in my cupboard awaiting quilting .....  and I would like to get them done..... especially since I have others in progress, and still others as kits, and still others that I want to do.... hmmmmm

This is a folder that youngest daughter gave me at Christmas (I think she may be psychic)

This is a scrappy rail fence quilt....

I used fabric I bought in Bali for this curved ruler quilt....

this is a sweet Natalie Bird design quilt.... just loved doing all those little stitcheries

These churn dash blocks were from a Block swap group a few years back....

My Sylvia's Bridal sampler us Tuesday girls each made in different colours...

and Splendid Sampler which again us Tuesday girls sewed together....

My scrappy stars made in Papillon fabrics, one of my all time favourite ranges and I wish they would bring back ...

I have already made one quilt with my 9 patch from a swap a few years ago... this uses up the last of the blocks....

this was a sweet 1930's style layer cake.... I made mistakes with my cutting but it is still a pretty quilt....

chevron made with scraps from a range... or maybe charm packs... anyway it is sweet and happy....

Natures Journey done in a Stitch-a-long..... done in French General (not sure which range)

... and my sweet Alphabet bear (bear designs by Michelle Ridgeway).  I had 5" strips of this pretty range (no idea what is was called)

So there we go.....  now I've put these out there I hope that will make me get them done....

Will you show us yours???????

Righto, Gotto Go... off to make blocks with the Tuesday girls... for another quilt!

Progress......

Last week I worked on my beach huts project...... You may remember over 2017 I joined the Rainbow Scrap Challenge and each month I made about 30 beach huts from the different colours.... so I had a LOT of beach huts by the end of the year....

While I was sorting out my 'list' of UFO's and kits I made a start.... on my previous post I showed the first part of my picture.....

I added more huts and plain blue to get the shape I wanted... the plain blue at the bottom was really only provided to stick on my sand and sea

Here is my picture.... I want to do thread work to bring out more texture ... but thats on the back burner for a while....

Didn't use up many of my beach huts so I carried on joining... this will be a mat....

... and this will be a pair of tray cloths ......

... and I still have some left ......

The huts were fun.... I learnt that I don't need to make so many things....(but I was wanting to use up scraps), and mainly I should rather take time to make whatever block nicely, even if it is a scrap project.

I did get a bit of my quilting done....(I did not piece this quilt but it was passed on as a donation)

This is quite a big pieced quilt.....  I did a mixture of all over quilting in the central area...

and 'customised' the borders....

Just need the binding done now... it's too hot for that big quilt on my lap.... so it's going to wait also!

Righto, Gotto Go.... work sewing back on and I have a quilt to pin.....

I also need to make up my list of UFO's and kits this weekend (2018 plans??????)

have a wonderful weekend......xx

2018

All the very best to all of you for 2018..... I do love blogland and hearing from people, and of course reading other blogs .... It's a lovely social place and I have made some wonderful friends, some of whom I have met in real life..... thank you to you all... you have enriched my life.  I'm always rather sad when someone stops blogging... it's like a friend has left town.... such is the circle of life...

Last year these are the decorations I posted out....

The fabric is from a lovely Christmas French General range ..... which I placed on Heat and Bond and carefully cut out and placed on red wool.  Sewed around the golden edge with blanket stitch (machine).  Then another layer of Heat and Bond to more wool and finally a red overstitch (catching a hanging tag) and cut around with pinking sheers.  Michelle gave me the idea (thanks my friend) and I did love how they looked....

These purses (designed my Natalie Bird) were made for a couple of friends....  needleturn applique on wool.... they are a lovely size to take with stitching, or going to town and putting in glasses, phone, cash card etc....

I think I need to make one for myself.... I rather love them ... and I managed the zips sortof ok..... hmmm

My very favourite dish done at Christmas is Sherry Trifle.... I don't always do it as someone eats an awful lot (no names mentioned) but I did this year and it went down well....

I make it the way my mum did... very easy peasy yummy scrummy..... it's good for any time of year, not sure why I only do it at Christmas....

Supplies are.... finger biscuits (not sure of their proper name), peach slices, best thick custard you can (my mum used to make a wonderful egg custard but mine ALWAYS turns scrambled), best sherry/port you can (if you don't like alcohol you can use the syrup from the canned peaches), some jam (apricot or raspberry are my favourite) - and some whipped cream for later...

Spread a little jam on the biscuits and layer them ....

pour liberal amount of sherry to soak up (I like to taste test the sherry to make sure it's ok)

then add a layer of sliced peaches.....

... and a good layer of custard (which will ooze down the sides of the biscuits

Next layer of jammed and soaked biscuits (at this stage I soak the biscuits in a different container and move them over or it all dribbles down)

... another generous layer of peach....

... and more custard.... (I am very generous with the custard)

cover with cling wrap and leave overnight .....

Just before serving layer with whipped cream and whatever - some years I use cherries, silver icing balls, this year I used toasted almond slivers....

Devour ....

I have rather neglected my Dutch Treat blocks lately but I did finish this one this week....

... and I got into the sewing room yesterday to have a play with my scrappy beach houses....

They are not well made, I rushed them and many roofs have their points off.... but they still look pretty...

I want a long thin wall hanging ... this is the start ... with some scrappy sky

I will do another 6 rows to get it to the size I want.....

Meanwhile, I have started sorting my UFO's and kits to get some sort of list up for 2018 ... my one regular thing I do each year....  the list is long.... hmmmmm

Righto, Gotto Go... beach huts and UFO's are calling....
