2nd week of April

Grandson Jack requested a beanie for upcoming winter...

I knitted a beanie with chunky wool - it is too big even for a big headed person!

I will try threading some shirring elastic through and see if that works

Sewing with friends on Wednesday yielded another 5 blocks .....

I'm rather chuffed how well my bold dark stripes lined up so well!

A good start has been made on the crochet blanket.  I am using Lucy's (Attic 24) Coast Ripple Blanket pattern but with my own set of colours.

A little bit of embroidery has been done for the next section of the Table runner

... and the next attempt at a beanie has been started using 8 play yarn this time... it is a nice chocolate brown and khaki green... not the colours shown in the picture at all!

Righto, Gotto Go.... I'd like to set up a quilt on the frame for quilting..... Wings and Pretty Things that I did ages ago (2020) , designed by Michelle... but first I need to sew together the backing as regular fabric is not wide enough.

Have a lovely weekend.....xx

  4. Perhaps it might just be easier to undo the too-big beanie and make it again using a smaller needle.....pretty blocks, and your floral embroidery is lovely!

  5. It's tricky getting the ribbing right on a beanie. Did the shirring elastic work?
Yes the bold strip on your block looks great.
The crocheted blanket is growing nicely.
Good progress with the next beanie.

  6. I think fine shirring elastic will do the trick on the beanie Fiona - I did this with one Mum knitted me once that was too big in the ribbing. Your crochet ripple blanket colours are just beautiful. Have a lovely weekend Fiona. xx

  7. Wow! Those stripes fabric aligned so perfectly, even up close! Kudos on that. I would love to crochet one of these blankets. I love that pattern. One day, when I'm retired, I want to take up crochet again. The last picture is a nice forest green with . . . purple on my screen, lol. Enjoy! ;^)

  9. The way the weather has turned cold here, a beanie is definitely needed o the head. Hope the elastic works. And the new one is looking good.
I do like Lucy's ripple pattern. Great colour combo.
And great to the block collection growing.

  10. I thought about making hats, but it cost more for yarn than buying them. I miss our old yarn outlets. You new quilts are beautiful and I do love your color choices. I really need to sell off things so I can clean up my rooms and reorganize my spaces, then I may be able to get more done.
