My Tilda Sewing Cushion

I love my new sewing cushion.....

The kit is from The Quilters Angel using the latest Tilda range.  The design is by Cottage Garden Threads...

the belt at the back can be left loose to leave it regular cushion shaped....

or it can be pulled up to make it a nice rounded shape to rest the arms on whilst working...

The little straps on the sides and corner pockets ensure space for all those things that I need when I am doing a project...

Needlebook, threads, magnetic pin holder, frame, scissors.  I have since added a little thimble holder and a stretch thing for my scissors so they don't drop off.

I love having it on my lap when I am working and having all I need in a convenient place...

Righto, Gotto Go..... I need to prepare some stitching to do tonight - on my lovely cushion...

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend......xx

Dashing out the Churn Dashes....

These are this months Churn Dashes..... since I am using only 2 colours I have found it easier to mass produce a bunch at a time..... plus I need to hurry mine up as I won't be available with the SAL later this year

These are last months... you can see the colours are reversed....

...... and this is how they will come together.....

I haven't got enough to do the size I want so I have needed to buy some more pink.  It's not the exact fabric but its the right tone and those blocks can go in the middle....

Sewing along with many others in ChookyBlue's Churn Dash SAL....

Righto, Gotto Go, things to do, sunshine to enjoy.....

Tuesday Show and Tell

I haven't been to Quilt Group for a while with one thing and another going on....  this week was a fairly small group but there were lots on the other side of the hall doing a mugbag workshop.

Still some lovely quilts for show and tell

A Community Quilt made from scraps

Another Community Quilt.... I like the additional yellow background creating it's own pattern

this is a fun one.... also used her scraps...

I took one of my couched throws.... there was a few comments as quite a few people hadn't seen this done before.

I also took this recent finish....  I'm thinking I might do this one again... and concentrate more on getting the cutting right....

This dragon quilt drew a lot of attention.... its very striking.  Made by a friend who asked me to quilt it for her...

I thought this one was very clever ....

I do enjoy seeing the variety brought in....

Using up leftovers.....

This weekend I played with some left over fabrics .....

I made this cute hedgehog quilt in 2018 for youngest grandiegirl who was going to visit us and needed a big bed quilt... Pattern by Melly and Me called Happy Hedgehogs.

Michelle had gifted me some very sweet hedgehog fabric which you can see more clearly here....

and I had some of Emma Jean Jansen "Eureka" fabric which I used for the big flowers and backgrounds.

I never did take a picture of the finished quilt but it lives in the UK now where we have spotted real life hedgehogs (sniffle sniffle)

Anyway, as you know I like to use up as much of my precious favourite fabrics as I can.  I first saw Star Pop on Raewyn's blog.

Star Pop is by Emily Dennis

Chopped up the left over fabrics, purchased some plain fabric for the stars and this weekend I got to sew sew sew.  I made the small throw size (42 blocks required) which finishes at 60 x 52".   I think I will used this pattern again....

I'm leaving it at that size ... binding is made and ready with it....

Righto, Gotto Go..... today I am going to try and tame some little scraps .... that should be a challenge

Have a great weekend.......

Back in the Saddle....

Well that head cold turned out to be Covid - there is  so much around I guess it was inevitable.  I did need to be in bed a lot for a couple of days, a bit wobbly for a couple more and still a residual blocked nose and chesty cough.... I sound worse than I feel.  Effects everyone differently.

My 4th booster was booked for Monday - I do feel the powers that be were a bit slow rolling out the 4th booster... the over 65's have had it available for a while now and Monday suddenly anyone over 30 - we knew this was coming with winter and flu-time.

Anyway  (rant over) now that I feel better I am sewing again.... these quilts have had their binding added.... I did it all by machine this time.

It was quilted as one big quilt..... basically whole cloth (I used 2 cotton sheets) and then couching on the long arm.... I cut it in half after quilting.

the colours are not showing well, the sheet is a dark grey with a teal yarn for couching.... and a nice brick red binding....

the underside was a light beige sheet....

These will be throws on my single beds in the spare room....  because there is no piecing they are quite lightweight.

Quite a few rows has been added to my scrappy crochet blanket..... this is an easy pattern and not much concentration is needed....

Righto, Gotto Go... I am sewing up more HST's today..... sew.... press..... trim....

Have a lovely weekend..... xx

Some Finishes.....

This top was made in 2016 (I made some mistakes cutting it but I don't think it shows too much)

As you can see I used 1930' style fabrics on some white.  This pattern is by Kate Henderson from Two Little Banshees and was in the December 2014 Homespun Magazine.  Quilted in 2021

You can see what I did with the quilting clearer in this picture....

At a craft show I found metreage of that fabric I used for the backing going for a good price... perfect

The top of the flannel quilt is finished now that it has it's green border on.... I am just waiting on getting just the right fabric for the backing....

The binding fabric was included in the kit so that has been cut and made ready....

A few more Field Journal blocks have been finished too.....

I still have more of them to sew, but I am going to take a break for a while and do something else.... I do need to prepare a block to sew for Civil War Bride but in the meantime I have taken out a scrappy crochet project I started last year..... I saved all the left over yarn from previous crochet blankets (in that bag at the back) and will use up as much of that as possible....  (you know me - no waste if I can help it!)

Those big soft buckets you get in the hardware store are perfect for this!

My lemon tree has done well this year, and I got some buttermilk this week so made up a new to me recipe found HERE....

Passed the taste test and I don't think it will last long....

Righto, Gotto Go... I have picked up a head cold and am snuffly and blocked up and truely annoyed about it... who has time for that???

I can still play in 'that' room though.... so I will .... keep well, keep safe and keep sewing....
